Can It Get Any Worse?

Does anything ever go right in Haiti? Outside of the Israeli field hospital, that is. It isn't bad enough that the biggest basket case in the Western hemisphere had their capital city destroyed by an earthquake. The world, well, the western world, well, mostly the United States and Israel were on the ground almost before the earth stopped shaking. Europe, through the EU is there helping too. But then there is the United Nations. Outside of trying to destroy Israel and bring down Western civilization in general, is there anything the UN is useful for? According to Jeff Andrus,

I just returned from Haiti with _____. We flew in at 3 AM Sunday to the scene of such incredible destruction on one side, and enormous ineptitude and criminal neglect on the other.

Port au Prince is in ruins. The rest of the country is fairly intact. Our team was a rescue team and we carried special equipment that locates people buried under the rubble. There are easily 200,000 dead, the city smells like a charnel house. The bloody UN was there for 5 years doing apparently nothing but wasting US Taxpayers money. The ones I ran into were either incompetent or outright anti-American. Most are French or French speakers, worthless every damn one of them.

While 1800 rescuers were ready willing and able to leave the airport and go do our jobs, the UN and USAID ( another organization full of little Obamites and communists that openly speak against America ) These two organizations exemplared their parochialism by:

USAID, when in control of all inbound flights, had food and water flights stacked up all the way to Miami , yet allowed Geraldo Rivera, Anderson Cooper and a host of other left wing news puppies to land.

Pulled all the security off the rescue teams so that Bill Clinton and his wife could have the grand tour, whilst we sat unable to get to people trapped in the rubble.

Stacked enough food and water for the relief over at the side of the airfield then put a guard on it while we dehydrated and wouldn’t release a drop of it to the rescuers.

No shower facilities to decontaminate after digging or moving corpses all day, except for the FEMA teams who brought their own shower and decon equipment, as well as air conditioned tents.

No latrine facilities, less digging a hole. If you set up a shitter everyone was trying to use it.

I watched a 25-year-old Obamite with the USAID shrieking hysterically, berate a full bird colonel in the Air Force, because he countermanded her orders, whilst trying to unscrew the air pattern. “You don’t know what your president wants! The military isn’t in charge here, we are!”

If any of you are thinking of giving money to the Haitian relief, or to the UN don’t waste your money. It will only go to further the goals of the French and the liberal Left.

If we are a fair and even society, why is it that only white couples are adopting Haitian orphans? Where the hell is that vocal minority that is always screaming about the injustice of American society?

Bad place, bad situation, but a perfect look at the new world order in action. New Orleans magnified a thousand times. Haiti doesnt need democracy. What Haiti needs is Papa Doc. That’s not just my opinion. That is what virtually every Haitian we talked with said. The French run UN treat us the same as when we were a colony, at least Papa Doc ran the country.

Oh, and as a last slap in the face the last four of us had to take US AIRWAYS home from Phoenix . They slapped me with a $590 dollar baggage charge for the four of us. The girl at the counter was almost in tears because she couldn’t give us a discount or she would lose her job. Pass that on to the flying public.
Yeah, that's the whole piece. Quite a depressing piece of journalism, don't you think? Not as depressing as the situation on the ground though.

Giving it Back to the UN

It it truly an insane world we live in when vicious dictatorial regimes like Pakistan, Libya, any member of the Arab League, and the UN Human Rights Commission sits in judgement of Israel, the one and only free, democratic, and moral nation in the Middle East. It fails to make a dent in most people's thoughts that the most unfree nations on Earth: Zimbabwe, The People's Republic of China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and former members of the UN Human Rights Commission, Algeria, Syria, Libya, and Vietnam, all countries with atrocious human rights records, condemn Israel on a regular basis for imaginary crimes. The one crime that they truly condemn Israel for is existing at all. Why they are taken seriously will always remain a mystery to me.

UN Watch keeps their eye on the corrupt UN and their even more corrupt, malignant Human Rights Commission.
In response to the twisted Goldstone Report, I'm reprinting the following from UN Watch:

GENEVA, October 16, 2009 -

The former commander of British forces in Afghanistan just finished addressing the U.N. special session on the Goldstone Report, speaking on behalf of UN Watch.

“Mr. President, based on my knowledge and experience, I can say this: During Operation Cast Lead, the Israeli Defence Forces did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare,” said. Col. Kemp.
Speech by Col. Kemp, as delivered today, Oct. 16, 2009

UN Watch Oral Statement
UN Human Rights Council, 12th Special Session
Geneva, 16 October 2009

Delivered by Col. Richard Kemp

Thank you, Mr. President.

I am the former commander of the British forces in Afghanistan. I served with NATO and the United Nations; commanded troops in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Macedonia; and participated in the Gulf War. I spent considerable time in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, and worked on international terrorism for the UK Government’s Joint Intelligence Committee.

Mr. President, based on my knowledge and experience, I can say this: During Operation Cast Lead, the Israeli Defence Forces did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare.

Israel did so while facing an enemy that deliberately positioned its military capability behind the human shield of the civilian population.

Hamas, like Hizballah, are expert at driving the media agenda. Both will always have people ready to give interviews condemning Israeli forces for war crimes. They are adept at staging and distorting incidents.

The IDF faces a challenge that we British do not have to face to the same extent. It is the automatic, Pavlovian presumption by many in the international media, and international human rights groups, that the IDF are in the wrong, that they are abusing human rights.

The truth is that the IDF took extraordinary measures to give Gaza civilians notice of targeted areas, dropping over 2 million leaflets, and making over 100,000 phone calls. Many missions that could have taken out Hamas military capability were aborted to prevent civilian casualties. During the conflict, the IDF allowed huge amounts of humanitarian aid into Gaza. To deliver aid virtually into your enemy’s hands is, to the military tactician, normally quite unthinkable. But the IDF took on those risks.

Despite all of this, of course innocent civilians were killed. War is chaos and full of mistakes. There have been mistakes by the British, American and other forces in Afghanistan and in Iraq, many of which can be put down to human error. But mistakes are not war crimes.

More than anything, the civilian casualties were a consequence of Hamas’ way of fighting. Hamas deliberately tried to sacrifice their own civilians.

Mr. President, Israel had no choice apart from defending its people, to stop Hamas from attacking them with rockets.

And I say this again: the IDF did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare.

Thank you, Mr. President.
Will it have any effect on the real thugs, torturers, and criminals at the UN? Probably not. But we must stand up to evil in any way we can, and sadly, the UN, originally conceived as a force to spread peace and freedom throughout the world, has been allowed to become a tool of evil.

The World vs Israel

Jeff Jacoby has written a painfully correct assessment of the Israel - Hezbollah War of 2006.
Never before had Israel's deterrent capability and its reputation for military indomitability suffered such a blow. For the first time in its history, Israel had faced an Arab army in battle and failed to defeat it. When the hostilities ended with the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, Hezbollah was still on its feet, bloodied but decidedly unbowed.

Two years on, Israel is still paying for its defeat.

In a humiliating capitulation last week, the government of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert agreed to free five Hezbollah and Palestinian terrorists, plus a still-undetermined number of other security prisoners, in exchange for the corpses of Regev and Goldwasser. Among those to be turned loose is the notorious Palestinian murderer Samir Kuntar, who in 1979 savagely killed 4-year-old Einat Haran by smashing her skull against a rock with his rifle butt, having first shot her father in the back and then drowned him in the sea. Kuntar, who also killed two policemen and was responsible for the death of Einat's 2-year-old sister, is today being hailed as a hero by Israel's enemies. The Palestinian Authority calls him a "brave warrior," and Beirut is festooned with his picture.
At the time it was obvious and it is still obvious that part of the reason for Israel's poor performance was its unfortunate leadership. Ehud Olmert is not, and as far as I can see, has never been a leader. Every day this insane loser is in office, the knife goes a little deeper into Israel's back. If he were a real leader, he would have resigned the day after his disgraceful performance during that war.

The other problem is that Israel was not only battling Hezbollah. Among the allies of Hezbollah and who were also lined up against the tiny Jewish state were: the entire Muslim world, almost all of the Mainstream Media who bought all of the Hezbollah propaganda as truth, the UN, including UNIFIL, who, as reported by The Weekly Standard and other publications,
DURING THE RECENT month-long war between Hezbollah and Israel, U.N. "peacekeeping" forces made a startling contribution: They openly published daily real-time intelligence, of obvious usefulness to Hezbollah, on the location, equipment, and force structure of Israeli troops in Lebanon.

UNIFIL--the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, a nearly 2,000-man blue-helmet contingent that has been present on the Lebanon-Israel border since 1978--is officially neutral. Yet, throughout the recent war, it posted on its website for all to see precise information about the movements of Israeli Defense Forces soldiers and the nature of their weaponry and materiel, even specifying the placement of IDF safety structures within hours of their construction. New information was sometimes only 30 minutes old when it was posted, and never more than 24 hours old.

Meanwhile, UNIFIL posted not a single item of specific intelligence regarding Hezbollah forces. Statements on the order of Hezbollah "fired rockets in large numbers from various locations" and Hezbollah's rockets "were fired in significantly larger numbers from various locations" are as precise as its coverage of the other side ever got.
And to this day,
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is intentionally concealing information about Hezbollah activities south of the Litani River in Lebanon to avoid conflict with the group, senior sources in Jerusalem have said. In the last six months there have been at least four cases in which UNIFIL soldiers identified armed Hezbollah operatives, but did nothing and did not submit full reports on the incidents to the UN Security Council.
This is in addition to the normal anti-Semitism expressed regularly by the so-called UN Commission on Human Rights and in the Security Council.

Then there are the various NGOs and alleged human rights organizations, some of the more liberal church groups, and the peace groups, including some headed by Jews and some inside of Israel itself. The Jewish groups are the worst. For some reason, they buy into the same anti-Israel propaganda that the rest of the enemies of Israel believe, including the most pernicious one going around today, the myth of the omnipotent Jewish lobby that controls US foreign policy at the behest of Israel, a paranoid fantasy straight out of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

All of these allies of Hezbollah are still around today and still waiting for the next war. They will pounce on Israel again. Israel will have very few dependable allies. The United States will be one, unless Obama is elected president. Then, I have my doubts. Then our country may be divided. Evangelical Christians will always be in Israel's corner, but as I've chronicled before, most Jews are too deluded to realize how dependable evangelicals are, because evangelicals are, alas, not ideologically pure. Then there is the small cadre of independent bloggers and conservative websites and organizations. We try to alert the world, but the world doesn't want to listen. The world needs its scapegoat.

Memos to the EU and the UN

Dear EU

Shut up and go to your room. Don't even think of coming out until you find your moral compass.

Dear UN

Just shut up and go away. Except for John Bolton, the delegate from Israel, and a very few others, there's no hope for you.

More Proof That the U.N. is Morally Bankrupt

According to this report
Acting on behalf of Arab nations, Qatar circulated a draft
U.N. Security Council resolution Thursday demanding
Israel end its offensive in the
Gaza Strip and release the Palestinian officials it has arrested.
Gee, what a surprise, Muslim governments in a snit because those uppity Jews in Israel have the nerve to defend themselves once again against Palestinian Islamic terrorism.

Even though sometimes it seems like the U.N. is made up entirely of moral retards, there are still Israel, the United States,
The draft faced immediate opposition from the United States and France,
and France? Well, kind of.
which called it unbalanced in its criticism of Israel. The document does not condemn the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier by Palestinian militants and makes no mention of Palestinian rocket attacks on southern Israel this week.

France's ambassador said he would offer changes, but U.S. Ambassador John Bolton suggested that Washington opposed the resolution entirely.
Because of John Bolton, we can be proud of what the U.S. is doing in a vain attempt at improving the vicious anti-semitism at the U.N.
That raised the possibility that the United States, as a permanent member of the Security Council, would veto it. It has done so in the past when it believed resolutions condemning Israeli action did not include criticism of Palestinian actions.

Experts from the 15 Security Council nations were to meet later in the day to discuss the draft, but Bolton was not optimistic.
How could he be optimistic when
The resolution calls on Israel to "scrupulously abide by its obligations and responsibilities under the Geneva Convention," and expresses its "grave concern about the dire humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people.

It demands that Israel "cease its aggression against the Palestinian civilian population" in Gaza, and also demands that Israel withdraw its forces immediately.

It expresses appreciation for efforts to find a diplomatic solution and release all prisoners, including Shalit.

"I'm not sure there are amendments that we could propose that would make it into an acceptable resolution," he said.
That doesn't give much cause for optimism.

The observer from the imaginary country of Palestine (allowed in because they really hate Jews) had this to spew:
"We hope that the Security Council would rise to the occasion and would adopt a resolution and send the appropriate message to Israel to stop their aggression,"
Of course, we are supposed to ignore the fact that this whole fiasco started because the Palestinians in repeated and brazen acts of war, have continuously sent rockets into civilian areas of Israel, murdered Israeli soldiers and civilians, and kidnapped an Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit. But because Palestinian society is so pathetic, and so degraded after four generations dedicated to the destruction of Israel through the creation of a terrorist state, they expect to play by different rules. They don't think they should have to pay the consequences for their murderous actions. The U.N. is supposed to come to their rescue and kick out that nasty IDF and allow Palestinian terrorists free rein to attack Israel again. Oh yeah, and keep that "charity" flowing. We wouldn't want a "humanitarian crisis" on our hands, would we?

Also, in typical Palestinian fashion, Palestinian terrorists (not militants, extemists, fighters, or any other stupid euphemism from the MSM) fight behind their own children, which they use as human shields as you can see

here,

here,

here

here with Barney Fife, and

here, where the terrorists, hiding among children are referred to as "masked activists". For some reason, while Israel is expected to uphold the Geneva Convention to the letter and beyond, no one in the news media or the U.N. has seen fit to take the whiny Palestinians, who wear no uniforms, to task for using their own children as human shields.

This time, after all of the sacrifices Israel has made over all these years, the Palestinians need to learn that actions have consequences.

IMAO and the UN

My son and I are now proud owners of IMAO "10 top UN Slogans" t-shirts. As his is black and mine is blue they're not quite matching, but they're still quite dashing.

He may be screwing up in Geometry, his bedroom might resemble Fallujah after the US Marine's last visit, but he still recognizes at the tender age of 15 that the former hope of the world has turned into a vast, scandal-ridden, anti-semitic, anti-western, anti-democratic cesspool.

He doesn't follow the news as closely as I do, but if he did, I'm sure he would agree that we need John Bolton in the UN. No, Bolton won't clean it up, but he won't suck up to Islamic dictatorships or members of the EU. And he won't apologize for United States policy. We need Bolton!
