Obama and Muslims - More Reasons to Vote Against Him

I was going to talk about how Obama is painting himself into a corner based on this Detroit Free Press article. I'm sure everyone has already weighed in on Obama's campaign not wanting to have women in hijabs on camera with him.

"We don't want to look Muslim, but we do want to continue to pander to them. We want it both ways."

We are also now being forced to listen to every Islamic grievance monger in the world rave about hatred and "Islamophobia". There are also some non-Muslim, nut-case, useful idiots joining the party.

But then I read this post from Debbie Schlussel.

Now, I've come to learn that one of the hijab-encrusted, rejected whiners, Hebba Aref, was an official of the Muslim Students Association (MSA), in charge of proselytizing. The Chicago Tribune identified the MSA as part of the American manifestation of the Sunni terrorist group, Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimeen--The Muslim Brotherhood. Aref served on the executive board of the University of Michigan-Dearborn's MSA, which demanded and obtained tax-funded Muslim foot bats at that university, a story I broke on this site last year. Two Muslim then-students at U-M Dearborn, Lola Elzein and Mohammed Fouad Abdallah, sent me violent rape and death threats.

Shimaa Abdelfadeel, the other woman allegedly excluded by the Obama campaign, was chair of SAFE, a University of Michigan-Ann Arbor group that hosted the 2002 Divestment Conference against Israel at which "Annihilate the Jews!" was chanted and Islamic Jihad founder Sami Al-Arian was keynote speaker. She's the author of vehement anti-Israel vitriol and propaganda.

In the Free Press article, about half way through, we read,

Obama met last month privately in Macomb County with a Muslim leader from Dearborn, Imam Hassan Qazwini.

But Schlussel also wrote about this way back on May 16. She also brought up some politically incorrect questions about Obama's private meeting with Qazwini, a fervent Hezbollah supporter. Then there's Obama's more recent meeting with another Hezbollah supporter, Osama Siblani, also reported by Schlussel. We are not supposed to question the people that Obama associates with, because they are not Obama. Isn't that the way the argument goes?

Well, after his "my best friends are Jews" speech at AIPAC, where he called for an undivided Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and his quick flip-flop/backtrack, I am absolutely going to watch who he befriends. It's a good thing Schlussel continues to the reporting that American news sources refuse to do.

The Wages of Restraint

As Susan Fields points out, Jews have tried restraint in the past. The results for the Jews have always been hideous.

Now the Jews of Israel, doing what they have to do to survive, are accused of "acting out of proportion" to the daily assault of Iranian rockets fired by Hezbollah to kill Jews in their homes. The Jews should show restraint. Restraint was what the Jews in Germany showed when the Nazis were organizing the Holocaust and the world wouldn't believe that what was happening was happening. Restraint is what the rest of the world showed when they dismissed a crazy Austrian paperhanger and his nutty book, "Mein Kampf." If the rest of the world was willing to ignore Hitler and his boasting and bloviating, why couldn't the Jews?


Restraint is what you show in disputes with rational people who are willing to compromise, who will give up something in return for something. But restraint can buy time for your uncompromising enemies to enable them to plot the ambush to kill you later. During the Holocaust, certain Jewish leaders, eager to show restraint by trusting their enemies, gave up lists of Jews, a few at a time, to save others a little while longer.


Ariel Sharon, showing restraint, organized the withdrawal from Gaza as a way to achieve peace through strength, a controversial idea but nevertheless credible. You could call it aggressive restraint. All that was wrong with it was that it didn't work and was perceived as weakness by the enemies of Israel. The only thing Israel got was more rockets on its cities, the elevation of Hamas to power and the kidnapping of its soldiers standing duty in Israeli territory.

Restraint, it turns out, is a lot like appeasement. It only strengthens the belligerent party. But when it comes to the Jews, this fact is ignored or argued. When it comes to the Jews, they can do nothing right.

So in a clear case of "damned if you do, damned if you don't", you might as well battle on as if the lives of you and your family depend on it. Because when you're Jewish, and the alleged moral authorities of the world (UN, EU, most of the media, "human rights" organizations) have abdicated their positions in favor of excusing terror and murder against you, and condemning you for defending yourself, you have no choice but to fight.

As The New York Times reported from Dearborn, "For miles along West Warren — in hair salons, restaurants and meat markets — shopkeepers and their relatively few customers stared at televisions tuned in to Al Jazeera." Incidentally, there were "relatively few" customers out and about only because, as one baker knew, "most of his regular customers were home watching (Al Jazeera), just as they had all day, every day," since Israel's offensive began.


Why does this matter? Al Jazeera, of course, is the relentlessly anti-American, anti-Israel, jihad-boosting "news" network. To find sets in the heartland tuned in to this station today is roughly akin to coming across an American town, circa 1942, tuned in to Axis Power propagandists Tokyo Rose and Lord Haw Haw.


But this isn't, as they say, your father's heartland. Hezbollah itself is popular in Dearborn, which can fill a banquet hall to celebrate "Lebanon Liberation Day" — the day Hezbollah claims as its 2000 victory over withdrawing Israeli forces. Osama Siblani, the publisher of Dearborn's Arab American News, considers Hezbollah, along with Hamas and other jihadist groups, to be "freedom fighters." And, as Siblani tells it to the Detroit News, he's not alone: "If morally supporting Hezbollah or associating with (Hezbollah spiritual leader Muhammad Hussein) Fadlallah is a crime, 'there is not (sic) going to be enough buses to haul the people out and take them to jail.'"


Siblani was speaking before the Israeli offensive began. But not before the 1983 Hezbollah bombings in Beirut that killed 241 US servicemen, 63 U.S. Embassy personnel and 58 French paratroopers. And not before the 1984 Hezbollah torture-murder of CIA station chief in Lebanon William Buckley. And not before the 1985 Hezbollah hijacking of TWA Flight 847 and the torture-murder of Navy diver Robert Stethem. And not before the 1988 Hezbollah torture-murder of Col. William Higgins. And not before the Hezbollah bombings of the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires in 1992, killing 29, the Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires in 1994, killing 96, or the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia in 1996, killing 19 U.S. servicemen.

More Mainstream Anti-Semitism

Muslims held a rally yesterday in Dearborn Michigan. I wish I could have been there, but I did get to read about it in today's Detroit Free Press. According to the article, it was the typical Muslim "Israel is the terrorist - stop Israeli aggression" type of tripe. But these days, no Muslim inspired, anti-Israel rally is complete without:

Saying that Israel is killing children and bombing innocent citizens, one of the speakers, Osama Siblani of the Congress of Arab-American Organizations, said, "This is terror." The crowd cheered loudly in response. "They are cowards."

"We know that the president is being bought by the Zionist lobby. We know that the (U.S.) Congress is being bought by the Zionist lobby.

We've come to the point where blatant anti-semitic lies of the past are reformated for today's modern society. I'm sure if questioned Siblani would tell us that he's not anti-semitic, only anti-zionist. And some of his best friends are Jews . . . like Richard Cohen.

In fairness, there was this response to Siblani's comments:

Some of those views concern many in the Jewish communities of metro Detroit.

"No one wanted this war," said Wendy Wagenheim, president of the Jewish Community Council, a coalition of about 200 Jewish groups in Michigan. "And certainly, emotions are running very high at this point. But there is nothing that will be served by importing the tensions apparently in the Middle East to metropolitan Detroit.

"Unfortunately, there are innocent victims on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon border, and we pray that peace is restored as soon as possible."

Pretty forceful response, isn't it? I wish they would have asked me.

As the article says, there will be a pro-Israel rally tonight. I'm guessing there will not be any corresponding anti-Muslim canards. But then, there is that double standard to consider: Muslims can engage in murder and mayhem against Jews and call it "self-defense". But if Jews fight back, it's called "aggression". It applies to verbal assaults as well.

Today's rant

I write letters to newspapers. It may be a waste of time, but I do it anyway. If it weren't for email, I probably wouldn't do it. I would sit and stew. My letters used to focus on two issues, Israel and education. Now I just focus on Israel. Since I'm a teacher, and an after-school reading tutor, I can attempt to effect the change that the educational establishment needs. With Israel, I can't do much but write about it. I send letters to both of my local newspapers. I sometimes also respond to calls for action by Honest Reporting and some of my favorite bloggers (in the sidebar) when they report something especially outrageous.

The thing about writing to newspapers is that I'm competing with the liars, moral retards, and Jew-haters on the other side. And no, I'm not engaging in hyperbole. The enemies of Israel have created an alternate universe, a Bizarro world, a 1984-style thought process where good is called evil and evil is called good, or is excused because it's the fault of the Jews. Of course they won't say Jews. That would expose them. They use terms like: zionist, neocon, or Israeli. But they mean Jew. And they get printed in mainstream newspapers in the interest of "presenting both sides."

For example, here is a response to a pro-Israel column by News editor, Nolan Finley. (For some reason, I can't find it or I would link to it.)

Following the revolting experience of reading Nolan Finley's extremely racist piece of garbage, several thoughts came to mind. First, I wondered how many Israeli shekels it took to purchase The News. The News has become an ambassador of hate by regurgitating the lies bigots have historically used to dehumanize and terrorize the Palestinian people.

It was none other than your employer, Ariel Sharon, and his Zionist predecessors who defined terrorism in the region and unleashed countless campaigns of brutality and unrelenting terror upon the innocent.

It was written by the membership representative of the Arab American Chamber of Commerce. I'm sure she would deny her antisemitism. And yet, there she is, recalling the anti-semitic canard of Jews owning the media. And there is the Detroit News printing it.

For sheer dishonesty, it would be hard to beat this response by M. Kay Siblani, editor of Arab American News to Nolan Finley's column.

For one thing, Hamas is not part of an effort to take someone else's land away. Its struggle is defensive, not offensive.

Neither does Hamas want to create a state wherein one religion reigns supreme. In Israel, Jews have automatic citizenship and other rights not afforded to people of other faiths. The double standard applied to Hamas -- and Arabs and Muslims -- is fueling support for more extremist groups.

It's OK to have a Jewish state, but not an Islamic one, even though the Jewish state is undemocratic, consistently violates international law, commits state-sponsored terrorism, has no constitution and no defined, internationally recognized borders.

The double standard is glaring on peace negotiations. The Palestinians are portrayed as an equal partner required to make all sorts of concessions before anyone will talk to them. But they have no land, no money, no arms and a compromised leadership.

The Israelis, on the other hand, have a country, an infrastructure, a government, an economy and the world's fourth strongest army. Because of its strength and the biased way in which the United States supports it, Israel continues to take land and kill people even while it convinces the world that it is trying to talk peace.

Those who know that the time has come for justice for Palestinians and believe that it will somehow detract from Israel's well-being have descended into name-calling and demonizing. People like this are irresponsible and should not have a public podium.

This was written before the latest successful homicide bombing in Tel Aviv, but I'm sure it wouldn't matter a bit to the lying Siblani.

And it didn't matter to the Israel-haters who wrote letters to the Detriot Free Press to excuse the Tel Aviv bombing and to lambaste the paper for its coverage of the bombing. It seems the Free Press wasn't sympathetic enough to the murderer of nine innocent people. Even though he injured dozens in addition to the nine he killed using a vest filled with explosives, and nails and ball bearings coated with rat poison in order to cause infction and delay blood clotting, they demand that we sympathize with the murderer.

Why?

The usual reasons that usually begin with "it was tragic but-". And then they go on to give the usual delusional reasons why Israel should be blamed and why both sides must be presented. I don't recall that argument being used for Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Timothy McVeigh, or Jeffery Dahmer. But they didn't target Jews. The Free Press printed all of the lies and moral equivalence between murderer and victim.


Golda Meir once said that peace will come to the Middle East when the Arabs love their children more than they hate the Jews. With the election of Hamas that obviously hasn't happened. With main stream newspapers printing thinly veiled antisemitism and excuses for Hamas inspired terror attacks, things seem to be getting worse.
