First of all, publicly burning a Qu'ran is a stupid thing to do. Being a book lover, I look at the burning of any book, even a lousy one, as a desecration. The "pastor" in charge of this fiasco needs to find a more intelligent way to make his point, like maybe doing some research into Islam so that he can spread that information. The more people who understand Islam and the terror and abuse it has spread, the brake it's put on freedom and civilization, the better we infidels will be able to battle it, along with its Leftist dhimmi enablers.

Here’s what I view as far more offensive than the burning of Korans: that the outrage over this is more so than the outrage of any Islamic murder of Americans, any jihadist beheading videos featuring Westerners being slaughtered in the name of the Koran.
Also, as I recall, there was no Guantanamo, no Afghanistan war and no Iraq war on Sept. 10, 2001. And yet, somehow, Osama bin Ladin had no trouble recruiting back then. Can we retire the "it will help them recruit" argument yet?
Michelle Malkin does a good job of reminding us that there are always Muslims somewhere outraged over something we in the West are doing or not doing.
I keep wondering when some big time pundit will point out that this tells us more about both Islam and the West than either their our our leaders are willing to admit. We are bombarded with worry warts insisting that this Qu'ran burning will be a tremendous recruiting tool for Al-Quaeda and the Taliban. These days it's hard to find any behavior from the West that isn't claimed as a propaganda coup for Islamic terrorists; cartoons of Mohammed, protests against the "Ground Zero Mosque", killing terrorists, the list is endless.
If, as we are constantly assured by the apologists, that it is only a "tiny minority" of Muslims who engage in terrorism, where are they finding so many Muslims who are inspired to be terrorists at the slightest provocation? Wait - not provocation - it's any act that any Muslim finds distasteful. And if it isn't terrorism, there will be riots, lots of riots featuring burning American flags, screaming, ranting, and more than a few random murders from outraged members of what we are - again - constantly assured, is a religion of peace (just chock full of Ghandis don't you know) . . . as long as we follow their rules, you know, as long as we act as dhimmis. If they're as peaceful as the apologists claim they are, why are they so damn easy to provoke?
It's past time to let the Islamic world know that we aren't interested in being lorded over by misogynistic, insecure, tyrannical, parasitic, seventh century barbarians. But that's the problem, isn't it? Our spineless leaders, along with our mainstream media, is afraid to take that stand. Somehow, they continue to take the coward's way out and insist that - really, it really is a religion of peace, honest, and anyone who claims otherwise is an "Islamophobe." And this is from the leaders and elites of the richest, most powerful society ever developed by mankind. They have decided to wimp out. It's every infidel for himself.
The Roman historian, Tacitus insisted that in order to remain strong, a society needs to be engaged in constant warfare (but I can't find the exact quote). Stop fighting, and men become lazy and indolent. I've never been much of a fighter myself, but as I've gotten older, and had a family, and have finally come to the understanding that there are things worth fighting for, and sometimes one does have to stand up or be trampled on, I've become more willing to stick my neck out, raise my voice, and challenge the enemies of civilization. While I don't relish war, when you compare Islam to the West, not only are they willing to die (but for all the wrong reasons), they're willing to watch their children die too, if not murder them outright. Meanwhile, our children are learning that there is nothing worth fighting for, that's in morally superior not to fight, and if we just reach out to our enemy, not think of them as "the other" and try and understand their grievances against us, and compromise, we will all learn to love one another and live together in peace and harmony, if you accept slavery as peace and harmony.
I'm sure our wonderful elites would make great slaves. They could work and demonstrate their moral superiority at the same time.
As Debbie Schlussel points out, pandering, bowing, and scraping to the Muslim world did not begin with Obama. The difference is, Obama doesn't try and hide it. In this respect, he is much more honest than those presidents who served before him. Like Debbie says,
When I was an intern on Capitol Hill in the summer of 1985 and still in high school, Saudi Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud held a giant party for all of the young interns on Capitol Hill. He and the Saudi Arabian Embassy rented out the Capitol Center and hosted free food, music, belly dancers, and other entertainment, trying to reach out to America’s future leaders and convince them of the modernity, hipness, and “appeal” of Saudi Arabia. The was the real purpose. But the ostensible purpose was to celebrate Prince Sultan’s trip into space, courtesy of NASA–Ronald Reagan’s NASA. While ultimately this was Reagan’s move, it was carefully orchestrated by then-Vice President George H.W. Bush, a close friend to the Saudi Royal family.
There were exhibits all over the Cap Center party honoring Prince Sultan’s space trip. And, at the time, everyone in the U.S. space program knew what a joke it was, what an obvious sop to the Saudis, given that the Prince didn’t have an iota of the years of training and skill it takes to become an American astronaut. He had the title of “payload specialist,” but the only payload for which he was actually skilled was “pay the lady.” Only months earlier, the Prince was the acting Saudi Information Minister and had zero space knowledge.
Everyone knew that this was a PR stunt that was outreach to Muslims in the form of fulfilling this spoiled Saudi Prince’s only unfulfilled Walter Mitty fantasy, courtesy of the Bush family that feted these people for decades. The real American astronauts laughed that the pretentious Prince Sultan insisted on wearing his Islamofascist get-up for the group picture of the STS-51-G Space Shuttle Discovery crew, yet he dressed in space gear for his individual shot. At the time, Sultan was the youngest person to fly in a space shuttle and not because he earned it. Even worse, U.S. taxpayer dollars helped finance Sultan’s launch and deployment of the Arab Satellite Communications Organization’s ARABSAT-1B satellite in space, the ostensible reason Sultan was aboard the flight. Yes, the Saudis supposedly paid a token amount. But it didn’t cover the overwhelming costs incurred. And that’s not the point.
Most of us weren't as aware of the pathologies of Islam as we are today. I was one of those who joked about it. Now, I'm a lot more serious, but there is still room for humor. Our sense of humor must never be lost. Then the terrorists (and their progressive supporters and enablers) will have won.

Did anti-Semitism in Europe end with the demise of the Third Reich, only to be reborn with increased Islamic immigration to Europe? And of course during the 30s and 40s they tried to keep Jews out of the holy land.
England hasn't changed much since then, except for the worse. With all the fuss they made over forged British passports used to assassinate a Hamas terrorist in Dubai because they assumed the Israelis made the hit, they're strangely silent on the use of forged British passports used by Russian spies. So, it’s no surprise that a British judge and jury said that vandalism–destruction that could have killed many and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars–is okay . . . so long as it’s against the Jews or Israel (or someone doing business with or helping them). It’s really not too different than laws the Nazis had in place. And that’s no hyperbole.

Some people have been trying to figure out why Europe hates Israel.
The Europeans' vicious attacks on Israel are animated less by the Jewish state's foreign policy than by Europe's ongoing fixation on the Holocaust. What else could explain the presence of posters equating Israel with Nazi Germany at pro-Hamas demonstrations in Vienna? According to one recent German university study, 45.7 percent of the European respondents supported the contention that "Israel is conducting a war of extermination against the Palestinians."
In their eyes, apparently, maintaining a naval blockade against a government sworn to destroy you – while providing the unfortunate people living under that government with tens of thousands of tons of supplies and humanitarian aid – now equates to looting and butchering six million people. Wolfgang Benz, the controversial director of the Berlin Center for the study of anti-Semitism, neatly summed up this incongruity on German television when he insisted that "anti-Semitism is different from anti-Zionism."
Benz embraces the European wish to alleviate guilt by denying the weight of the Holocaust. (As the head of a center for the study of anti-Semitism, he's a particularly strange case; the German political scientist Clemens Heni discovered that Benz's beloved academic mentor was the now-deceased Karl Bosl, an outspoken Nazi who contributed enormously to spreading Hitler's ideology.)
Of course, nothing Israel has ever done can even begin to compare to the crimes of the Shoah. But to help alleviate their feelings of guilt, Europeans delegitimize Israel, ignore modern anti-Semitism, and portray Muslims – who number over one billion and whom no one seeks to eradicate from the earth – as the new persecuted Jews of Europe.
Some of that may be true, but after 1500 years of persecution, I think it has become ingrained into the European psyche. And then there's the new European (and generally Western) secular cowardice. Their ancestors unapologetically conquered the world and forced their morals and ethics - for good or bad - on those they conquered. Some of that conquest was done in the name of Christianity. So what. No matter how much anyone insists that there is, there is no moral equivalence between Western/Christian imperialism, and Islamic imperialism. That should be clear by looking at the results of both. The fruits of one over time is freedom and prosperity. The other has only spread barbarism and intolerance.
The secular descendants of European warriors quiver in fear, because to admit that unassimilated Muslim immigrants are destroying the Western freedom that their brave ancestors fought for and bestowed upon them, would be seen as racism and "islamophobia". They never had to work for their own freedom. It was unearned and so it means nothing. Until it's gone. Then it will be mourned by some. They will wonder what happened. But, it's better to shut up and be conquered without fighting back than to be thought a racist. Besides there are always the Jews to blame.

In an effort to arrest the culprits who terrorize Jews, the Amsterdam authorities have ordered police officers to walk the streets disguised as Jews. The Dutch police already disguise officers as “decoy prostitutes, decoy gays and decoy grannies” to deter muggings and attacks on prostitutes, homosexuals and the elderly. Apparently sending out the decoys has helped reduce street crime. The “decoy Jew” has now been added to the police attributes.
Go ahead, read it and weep - or laugh. I mostly laughed at the insanity of it all. I'm sure decoy Jews will help solve the problem. Actually, if everybody dressed up as orthodox Jews . . .
So the Gaza Flotilla wasn't filled with peace activists after all. Leftard, Israel hating, Hamas supporting, Turkish thugs were lying. What a surprise. I've been neglecting my blog, and I thought maybe I could get a couple posts up. But then I read of this fiasco with the flotilla right before I left to go the the Memorial Day parade with my daughter.
I've been following it throughout the day, and I wrote three letters to various newspapers in order to express my opinion at the way they've allowed themselves to be manipulated for years by Islamists, whose lies are so transparent, whose hatred is so apparent, one has to wonder how and why the MSM allows itself to be played the way it has been played.
Another Islamic attempt at mass murder, another round of denial and willful blindness. The pattern is set. And thus it will remain until there is an attack so horrifying and so deadly that ignorance is no longer an option for even the most deluded appeaser of jihad. (I thought that attack had already happened, you know, 9/11, the empty spot which was once the World Trade Center, the thousands of empty spots in the hearts of the loved ones of the 9/11 victims, but I was ignorant to the depths to which people will sink when trying to deny the painfully obvious). Authorities shed little light on what might have motivated Shahzad -- who since moving from Pakistan to Connecticut had acquired a master's degree in business administration and a house in the suburbs that subsequently was lost to foreclosure.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said Shahzad is continuing to provide useful information to authorities and rejected notions that reading him his Miranda rights hindered investigators.

Bethlehem
Meet Yussuf Khoury, a 23-year old Palestinian refugee living in the West Bank. Unlike those descendents of refugees born in United Nations camps, Mr. Khoury fled his birthplace just two years ago. And he wasn't running away from Israelis, but from his Palestinian brethren in Gaza.
Mr. Khoury's crime in that Hamas-ruled territory was to be a Christian, a transgression he compounded in the Islamists' eyes by writing love poems.
"Muslims tied to Hamas tried to take me twice," says Mr. Khoury, and he didn't want to find out what they'd do to him if they ever kidnapped him. He hasn't seen his family since Christmas 2007 and is afraid even to talk to them on the phone.
Speaking to a group of foreign journalists in the Bethlehem Bible College where he is studying theology, Mr. Khoury describes a life of fear in Gaza. "My sister is under a lot of pressure to wear a headscarf. People are turning more and more to Islamic fundamentalism and the situation for Christians is very difficult," he says.
In 2007, one year after the Hamas takeover, the owner of Gaza's only Christian bookstore was abducted and murdered. Christian shops and schools have been firebombed. Little wonder that most of Mr. Khoury's Christian friends have also left Gaza.
On the rare occasion that Western media cover the plight of Christians in the Palestinian territories, it is often to denounce Israel and its security barrier. Yet until Palestinian terrorist groups turned Bethlehem into a safe haven for suicide bombers, Bethlehemites were free to enter Israel, just as many Israelis routinely visited Bethlehem.
The other truth usually ignored by the Western press is that the barrier helped restore calm and security not just in Israel, but also in the West Bank including Bethlehem. The Church of the Nativity, which Palestinian gunmen stormed and defiled in 2002 to escape from Israeli security forces, is now filled again with tourists and pilgrims from around the world.
But even here in Jesus' birthplace, which is under the control of the Palestinian Authority (PA), Christians live on a knife's edge. Mr. Khoury tells me that Muslims often stand in front of the gate of the Bible College and read from the Quran to intimidate Christian students. Other Muslims like to roll out their prayer rugs right in Manger Square.
Asked about why Muslims would pray so close to one of Christianity's holiest sites, Pastor Alex Awad, dean of students at the Bible College, diplomatically advises me to pose this question to the Muslims themselves. Mindful of his community's precarious situation, he is at pains to stress that whatever problems Christians may have with their Muslim neighbors, it's not the PA's fault.
"Muslims and Christians live here in relative harmony," he tells reporters, only to add that Christians "feel the pressure of Islam . . . There is intimidation and fanaticism but these are little instances and there is no general persecution."
Samir Qumsieh, the founder of what he says is the holy land's only Christian TV station, also stresses that there is no "Christian suffering" and that the Christians' problems are not orchestrated by the PA. Yet his stories of land theft, beatings and intimidation make one wonder why, if the PA doesn't approve of such injustices, it is doing so little to stop it?
Christians have only recently begun to talk about how Muslim gangs simply come and take possession of Christian-owned land while the Palestinian security services, almost exclusively staffed by Muslims, stand by. Mr. Qumsieh's own home was firebombed three years ago. The perpetrators were never caught.
"We have never suffered as we are suffering now," Mr. Qumsieh confesses, violating his own introductory warning to the assorted foreign correspondents in his office not to use the word "suffering."
Always a minority religion among the predominantly Muslim Palestinians, Christians are, Mr. Qumsieh says, "melting away," even in Bethlehem. While they represented about 80% of the city's population 60 years ago, their numbers are now down to about 20%, a result not just of Muslims' higher birth rates but also widespread Christian emigration. "Our future as a Christian community here is gloomy," Mr. Qumsieh says.
Palestinian plight not attributable to Israel barely seems to register in the West's collective conscience. As Christians around the world remember Jesus' birth, perhaps we can think of Mr. Khoury and those Christians still suffering in Gaza and Bethlehem.

And then there's Jimmy Carter's apology. Who is he trying to kid? I first read of it at Debbie's place. It's been showing up in other places though. Again, I echo what Debbie says. And I add: the guy's a liar, and I can't be placated by his phony apology. The worst line in the whole phony thing full of bad lines and weasel words:
I likewise hope that violent attacks against all civilians will end, which will help set a better framework for commencing negotiations.
This reminds me of when CAIR and other jihadists-in-disguise condemn "all terrorist attacks against all people." Carter hasn't acknowledged the undeniable fact that Palestinians gleefully murder civilians of all stripes on purpose for terrorist and for propaganda purposes. When Israelis accidentally kill a Palestinian kid (which Hamas might be using as a human shield), they express genuine remorse. Carter expresses the same stupid, offensive, and just plain wrong moral equivalence.
Eighty years ago, this past week, there was no Israel. Israel is constantly the excuse we hear for Islamic violence against Jews, America, and the rest of the West. But what happened 80 years ago is yet more evidence that this specious argument is absolute bunk. Islam has always been violent and intolerant of others, and it will always be as such. Whether or not there is an Israel is of no consequence to that fact.
And the 1929 Hebron Massacre, which occurred August 23-24, 1929, is yet another example throughout the history of the Islamic religion.
Read the whole thing, and the next time some idiot Israel-basher claims that Hamas or Fatah are "the resistance", or go on about "the occupation", or try to blame Zionists and Zionism, or attempt any other lame excuse for Islamic violence against Jews, direct them to Debbie's article.
Thanks to advances in the Internet, I can get into arguments with people anywhere the world, at any time, and for as long as I'm interested in banging my head against a wall. As if there weren't enough ways to waste time already on the computer. I wasted a good amount of time on this one. The argument had already begun. I was merely watching it on The Jungle Hut (and I can't seem to find the post that the argument took place on). But then, words were printed that I couldn't ignore from an Algerian Muslim woman named Lilia. It was some of the same sick anti-Semitic crap that I've heard before, and I couldn't just let it go.
The debate continued here on Conservative Outrage. And I shouldn't have even been a participant there. I accidently linked over from Blowing San #1. Nobody told me that the debate had moved there. But the argument did continue until the Muslim woman decided that I was an islamphobic, bigoted dunce who was too stupid and hateful to admit the truth of her words. Of course, her words were idiotic. There is a huge population who would agree with her though. They have other problems too.
I only thought the debate had ended though. Lilia snuck up on me here where once again I proved my duncehood and hatefulness. Maybe she thought one more attack on my stupidity would do the trick.
Of course, it didn't. I proved to be much too thick.
I did accuse her repeatedly of being anti-Semitic, a charge she denied. After all, she didn't hate Jews, and she wasn't blaming all of the problems of the world on Jews, but on Zionists. Recently though, the reality of "anti-Zionism" has been exposed.
I don't want to rehash the entire argument here. But basically, according to her, it was the Israeli Mossad who assassinated JFK and who brought down the World Trade Center. Furthermore, Mohammed did not ethnically cleanse the Arabian peninsula of Jews. Jews somehow corrupted Islamic scripture when it came to that unfortunate episode. To be fair, she only compared Israelis to Nazis once. The argument was also joined by a woman from NYC, who also tried desperately to help me understand the truth, but I proved to be much too pigheaded for even the two of them combined.
The thing is, I was able to answer their arguments while they ignored most of mine, preferring to bring new charges against Israel and the Zionists (not Jews). In fact, Lilia claimed to know the difference between real Jews and Zionist Jews. I was less than kind to her in my response to that moronic, insulting claim. In my sudden doubt as to whether I was a real Jew according to her Islamic standards, I pressed her on the subject. For some reason, she backed down on that one.
Except for the one regarding the Jews of Arabia, I'd heard all of these claims before and read some of the twisted thought behind them, so I know the bizarre claims that are out there. And I know that a lot of people, not only in the Islamic world, but all over the world believe that crap. That's the worst part of it. But don't try to convince me that this idiocy is real. Don't try to convince me that the psychotic killers of Hamas and Hezbollah are the moral equivalents of the IDF. And just crawl away quickly before blaming Zionists - not Jews - for the problems in the Middle East and the Muslim world.
One thing I take care to do on mine or any other blog that I comment on, is to not use my anonymity to say things that I wouldn't say to a person's face. So when Lilia made the insane claim that Jews - oh wait - I mean Zionists, were at least partially responsible for the Holocaust, I did get a bit excited, but I thought I showed great reserve. Had we been face to face, I probably would have gotten even more insulting.
I called Lilia anti-Semitic because to her, Jews were not people, rather, they are a collection of stereotypes, scapegoats who cause no end of trouble for everyone. And she has the audacity to think she can decide who is and who isn't a real Jew? To her, the real ones deny the legitimacy of Israel. Imagine that. To her, my avarice and hook nose wouldn't be enough to pass her "Jew test".
I decided at that point that it wasn't up to her, or me, or anyone else in the world to judge the legitimacy of the State of Israel, the one Jewish nation on the planet, and the only one whose legitimacy is questioned - even though we're told that this opposition has nothing to do with anti-Semitism. Right. I brought up some of the real atrocities in the world that are being ignored because they don't involve Jews defending themselves. There were no responses from either Lilia or Elizabeth, the woman form NYC.
That's something else I've noticed in this debate, when I've had it with Israel bashers and non-anti-semites who blame all the evils in the world on Zionists or the Mossad, but not the Jews; when you ask them the tough questions, they have no logical answer. And when they have no arguments left, they always resort to name calling. It's happened to me every time I've engaged any of these dopes in debate.
As for being called an islamophobe. Let's look at it this way. Anti-Semites create paranoid fantasies where Jews, or Zionists, or the Mossad are part of some insidious conspiracy to take over the world, or spread Zionism, or oppress the "Palestinians" or control the government. It used to be contained in the fetid fever swamps of delusional weirdos on the fringes of society. But now, thanks to the advance of Islam into the West, and their willing progressive dupes in the media and on college campuses, it's become another respected point of view. And that does have me concerned.
"Islamophobes" merely read the news and pay attention to the depravities being committed by Muslims around the world. And we take them seriously instead of trying to excuse them in fits of multicultural "understanding". And we certainly don't believe it when a Canadian newspaper can find no pattern in the arrests of suspects in a terror plot who all just happen to be Muslims. Nor do we ignore the fact that French "youths" who are torching cars every night in the suburbs of Paris are Muslims. Reports like this and this and this and this just from the past two days on Little Green Footballs help to fuel the fire of distrust of the Muslims world in this islamophobe. It doesn't even include the anti-Israel aspects of professional women's tennis that LGF and Debbie Schlussel are reporting on. And if you notice, Islam or Muslims are never responsible for any evil done by Muslims in the name of Islam, never ever. It's not a Muslims man's fault he can't control his sexual urges. It's the fault of women, who must be covered from head to to in a shapeless garment so nobody can know who or what is under it.
OK, so that's only true in some Islamic countries. In others, women can show their faces. Wow, that's a huge step toward freedom!
So with all of the vicious hatred coming from the Muslim world, I will continue to be on my guard, and I will continue to stand up for the one democracy in the Middle East, the one Jewish country in the world, no matter how much anyone with a morally inverted view of the world tries to convince me with their mental gymnastics and delusional thinking that good is evil and evil is good.
As expected because it happens every time Israel takes the gloves off and defends itself, the MSM has decided that the big bad Israelis are hurting the poor defenseless Gazans. As Michael Oren reports,
International's coverage of Saturday's fighting in Gaza concluded at midnight with a rush of images: mangled civilians writhing in the rubble, primitive hospitals overflowing with the wounded, fireballs mushrooming between apartment complexes, the funeral of a Palestinian child. Missing from the montage, however, was even a fleeting glimpse of the tens of thousands of Israelis who spent last night and much of last week in bomb shelters; of the house in Netivot, where a man was killed by a Grad missile; or indeed any of the hundreds of rockets, mortar shells, and other projectiles fired by Hamas since the breakdown of the so-called ceasefire. This was CNN at its unprincipled worst, grossly skewering its coverage of a complex event and deceiving its viewers. Yet Israel should not have been surprised.
What's even more sickening, hypocritical, and downright evil is that, as we all know, there is real oppression going on in the world. As Nat Hentoff points out,
If Eleanor Roosevelt were still here, she would be enraged and sickened by the utter failure of the United Nations, which she nurtured into being, to stop the continually mounting horrors inflicted on the people of Zimbabwe by its insatiably evil president, Robert Mugabe. While the United Nations just mutters away, in a Dec. 7 lead editorial, the Washington Times got to the rotting core of his rule: "People are starving and compete in the countryside with baboons, jackals and goats for roots and wild fruits; health care has imploded and cholera is on the march as water and sewer systems collapse; and refugees by the millions have left the country." Some of those refugees bring cholera with them to neighboring states.
South Africa keeps shaming itself by continuing only to "mediate" this virulent crisis as if it's possible to mediate relations with a plague. And the 15-nation Southern African Development Community also continues its minuet with deadly Mugabe. Only Botswana and Kenya face the naked truth and call for his removal." Said Mugabe (Associated Press, Dec. 19): "Zimbabwe is mine."
And don't forget other places where innocent people are being slaughtered for one reason or another. But the world can't be bothered to care as Israel must be condemned because those uppity Jews just don't know their place in the world. And it's not just Muslims who expect dhimmi behavior from Israel, most of the rest of the world does too.

Debbie Schlussel makes an important point as to the ineptitude of current Israeli leadership. We can only hope that they sharpen up immediately. They've taken the initiative. They'd better keep it.
What can I write about our ruler - uh - I mean president-elect that hasn't already been written? Am I worried about a catastrophic next four (and possibly more) years? You bet. I've been getting chain emails from deluded liberal Jewish relatives and friends trying to soften our fears because Obama has chosen a high profile Jew, Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff. Debbie Schlussel has an interesting profile (and another piece here) on Mr. Emanuel. The fact that somebody is Jewish is no guarantee that they are pro-Israel or even pro-Jewish. Rahm Emanuel may turn out to be Obama's "show-Jew" a term I first heard from Woody Allen years ago.
Carolyn Glick, as always, gives us more to worry about in an Obama presidency, especially if like me, you think the terrorists of Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran should be fought rather than appeased.
Due in large part to media credulousness, Obama's new image as a centrist was widely accepted by the public. And it is likely that Obama owes a significant portion of his support in the American Jewish community to the campaign's success in distancing Obama from men like Brzezinski and Malley.
But now that the campaign is over, it appears that as his critics warned, Obama's moves toward the center on issues relating to the Middle East were little more than campaign tactics to obscure his true policy preferences. Two days after his election, Washington Post columnist David Ignatius gave a sense of the direction in which Obama will likely take US foreign policy. And, apparently directed by Obama's campaign staff, Ignatius based much of his column on his belief that Obama's foreign policy views have been shaped by his "informal" advisor, Brzezinski.
Based on what Brzezinski and Obama's "official" campaign told him, Ignatius wrote that the two major issues where Obama's foreign policy is likely to diverge from Bush's right off the bat are Israel and Iran. Obama, he claimed will want to push hard to force Israel to come to an agreement with the Palestinians as soon as he comes into office. As for Iran, Obama plans to move immediately to improve US relations with the nuclear weapons building ayatollahs.
As for Malley, an aide of his told Frontpage Magazine this week that acting on Obama's instructions, Malley traveled to Cairo and Damascus after Obama's electoral victory to tell Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Assad that "the Obama administration would take into greater account Egyptian and Syrian interests."
I sent this column to a cousin who emailed me a Rahm Emanuel column. I haven't heard back from her.
David Warren has some non-Israel related worries about Obama and his legion of unquestioning followers.
As I have quoted in the past, let me quote again, the profound words of the late Polish poet Czeslaw Milosz, replying to the central lie in Marxism, which remains the central post-modern or post-Christian lie: "A true opium of the people is a belief in nothingness after death -- the huge solace of thinking that for our betrayals, greed, cowardice, murders, we are not going to be judged."
A great danger in democratic politics comes with just this denial. We are tempted to think that just by voting for a demagogue, a charlatan -- for any politician who tells us cynically only what we want to hear -- we can change the facts of nature.
We think that we can "make the rich pay," or otherwise transfer our personal responsibilities to the Nanny State. By some mysterious "social contract," we transfer to politicians the responsibility for what we have ourselves decided. And in due course, we may punish them, for what we got wrong.
And then there are the political cartoonists. They're going to get the final word . . . and picture.
I have to keep reminding myself though; no matter what happens, we must never give up, because there is always-
I wasn't sure if this was worth mentioning, but it's been annoying me for the past couple of days, so I'd better write about it. The Detroit Free Press, our more liberal paper (not to be confused with the more conservative Detroit News that carries a regular column by Hezbollah-delegate-in-Dearborn Imam Ehahi) ran an article with the following headline:
What construction worker? Where? What kind of spree? Gambling? Spending? Drinking? The subheading only added to the obfuscation:
3 killed, dozens wounded in Jerusalem.
These two lines seem to have nothing in common unless you had already read the story on the Internet. Or unless you wonder what the writer is talking about and you read the article following the headlines. And then you know - the "construction worker" was a Palestinian on a murder spree. My, how unusual. Who could have possibly guessed?
JERUSALEM -- A Palestinian construction worker commandeered a construction vehicle and rampaged through central Jerusalem on Wednesday, killing three people in what police later called the act of a lone attacker. Advertisement
Dozens were injured as the front loader flattened cars and flipped a crowded bus before its driver was shot dead by an Israeli soldier on leave who scrambled onto the vehicle.
The attack evoked memories of the politically motivated suicide bombings during the second Palestinian uprising, but police said the man appeared to have no ties to militant groups.
Three Palestinian groups claimed responsibility for Wednesday's rampage, but police officials dismissed them.
Police identified the driver as Hosam Dwayyat, a married, 30-year-old father of two who lived in predominantly Arab East Jerusalem.
Near the end, we read,
Moshe Plesser, an 18-year-old Israeli soldier who just finished basic training, said the man yelled "God is great" in Arabic before trying to continue with his rampage. The officer then fired a final shot in the back of the driver's head.
"To our regret, the attackers do not cease coming up with new ways to strike at the heart of the Jewish people here in Jerusalem," Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski said.
So you really have to dig to get all of the facts. But sometimes, even if you read the whole article, all of the facts just aren't there. For example, The Free Press also ran a glowing piece called:
Palestinian Christian leader calls for American support
OK, he wants American support for what?
Archbishop Theodosius Attallah Hanna, of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, visited an Arab-American church in Livonia on Wednesday and an Islamic center in Dearborn, where he met and spoke with a range of religious and community leaders.
“As a religious man, I ask for justice for the Palestinians,” Hanna told the Free Press in an interview at the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn. “Defending human rights is a duty for Christians and religious people.”
The archbishop, who heads the Palestinian Orthodox church in Jerusalem, said through a translator that:
“My wish is that the American people understand what the Palestinians go through,” he said. “Their struggle is a just struggle”
Oh, now I understand. He wants American support to help with the dismantling of Israel and the destruction of the Jewish people. Typical Muslim demand, but this is from an alleged Christian. Talking to a friend about it, he suggested that Hanna may be under pressure from Hamas. Since Israel abandoned Gaza and parts of the West Bank to Muslim control, the Christian minority has been getting forced out, and clergy have been murdered by gunmen. So that is a possibility. But according to Debbie Schlussel,
Hanna was fired by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate because of his open support for terrorism. But Hanna continues to claim he speaks on behalf of the Church, anyway.
He has repeatedly expressed his support for homicide bombers and "all forms and methods" of "resistance," not only against Israel, but also U.S. soldiers in Iraq.
Hanna proudly paraded his views to HAMAS' news agency:
These martyrdom freedom fighters are the heroes of the people, and we are proud of them. We categorically reject suspicious attempts to cast suspicion on their deeds. They are not suicidal, as some are claiming. Nor are they terrorists, as others are claiming. They are resisting the occupation.
Hanna also said,
We support the martyrdom [suicide] operations without any reservations, regardless of what skeptics and opponents of this form of resistance are saying.
In a January 2003 sermon marking the Epiphany and the baptism of Jesus, Hanna said,
We do not believe in so-called "peace with Israel" because peace cannot be made with Satan. Israel is the greatest Satan. No concession and no truce must be made [with Israel]. Any type of peace with this entity is concession, submission, and retreat from pan-Arab and national principles . . . . We encourage our youth to participate in the resistance, to carry out martyrdom attacks.
Hanna has repeatedly traveled to Syria and Lebanon to meet with Sheikh Hasan Nasrallah, Secretary-General of Hezbollah, the terrorist group that murdered over 300 U.S. Marines and civilians in Beirut.
So there you have it, the Free Press, when it comes to Israel, is engaged in a campaign of omission of facts, hiding facts, and writing half truths. But as the saying goes, "A half truth is a whole lie." That's why I get more of my news from the Internet than I do from my daily newspaper. If it weren't for the comics, I would have no use for a newspaper at all.
Obama and Muslims - More Reasons to Vote Against Him
I was going to talk about how Obama is painting himself into a corner based on this Detroit Free Press article. I'm sure everyone has already weighed in on Obama's campaign not wanting to have women in hijabs on camera with him.
"We don't want to look Muslim, but we do want to continue to pander to them. We want it both ways."
We are also now being forced to listen to every Islamic grievance monger in the world rave about hatred and "Islamophobia". There are also some non-Muslim, nut-case, useful idiots joining the party.
Now, I've come to learn that one of the hijab-encrusted, rejected whiners, Hebba Aref, was an official of the Muslim Students Association (MSA), in charge of proselytizing. The Chicago Tribune identified the MSA as part of the American manifestation of the Sunni terrorist group, Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimeen--The Muslim Brotherhood. Aref served on the executive board of the University of Michigan-Dearborn's MSA, which demanded and obtained tax-funded Muslim foot bats at that university, a story I broke on this site last year. Two Muslim then-students at U-M Dearborn, Lola Elzein and Mohammed Fouad Abdallah, sent me violent rape and death threats.

Shimaa Abdelfadeel, the other woman allegedly excluded by the Obama campaign, was chair of SAFE, a University of Michigan-Ann Arbor group that hosted the 2002 Divestment Conference against Israel at which "Annihilate the Jews!" was chanted and Islamic Jihad founder Sami Al-Arian was keynote speaker. She's the author of vehement anti-Israel vitriol and propaganda.
In the Free Press article, about half way through, we read,
Obama met last month privately in Macomb County with a Muslim leader from Dearborn, Imam Hassan Qazwini.
But Schlussel also wrote about this way back on May 16. She also brought up some politically incorrect questions about Obama's private meeting with Qazwini, a fervent Hezbollah supporter. Then there's Obama's more recent meeting with another Hezbollah supporter, Osama Siblani, also reported by Schlussel. We are not supposed to question the people that Obama associates with, because they are not Obama. Isn't that the way the argument goes?
Well, after his "my best friends are Jews" speech at AIPAC, where he called for an undivided Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and his quick flip-flop/backtrack, I am absolutely going to watch who he befriends. It's a good thing Schlussel continues to the reporting that American news sources refuse to do.
Debbie Schlussel has some great reasons here and some even better reasons here to not vote for Obama. If that weren't enough (and for me it is), there is this at Little Green Footballs. It's most troubling point is that Obama proclaims:
“Once I’m elected, I want to organize a summit in the Muslim world, with all the heads of state, to have an honest discussion about ways to bridge the gap that grows every day between Muslims and the West.”
And that was not a one-time-and-then-forget-that-he said-it statement. Yesterday on CNN, he stated again that he would sit down with our friends and enemies, or as Abe Greenwald calls it, he would maintain a position against our enemies calling for
. . . a doctrine of pre-emptive appeasement and the perfect advisory team to institute it, . . .
Ahh, but that's not all, boys and girls, for over at American Digest, we have this.
The leading candidate to replace Marianne Udow as director of the state Department of Human Services next month is a longtime community organizer and bridge-builder between metro Detroit's Arab-American community and other ethnic and business groups.
The appointment of Ismael Ahmed, executive director of the Dearborn-based Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS), has been speculated about since Udow announced last week that she would leave Aug. 31.
Liz Boyd, spokeswoman for Gov. Jennifer Granholm, declined to comment this week except to say that an announcement will come by month's end.
Sue Hamilton Smith, director of the Wayne County Department of Child and Family Services, said Thursday that Ahmed would be a good choice.
"A phenomenal man with great integrity," Smith said of Ahmed.
"Ish is one of those people that has the ability to talk as comfortably with corporate America as he does with the homeless. And he does do both."
That's what the Detroit Free Press had to say about Ismael Ahmed. There is even a nice photo of Mr. Ahmed looking a lot like someone you might buy a used car from.

There is much more to the story. As Debbie Schlussel informs us,
Readers of this site are familiar with Ahmed because I've written a great deal about him. The former head of Jesse Jackson's Michigan Presidential campaign, heads a Muslim-dominated agency that defrauds Medicaid by helping bring pregnant Muslim women from all over the world to America and giving them phony Social Security numbers to use so they can defraud Medicaid and have you--the taxpayers pay thousands of dollars to cover the deliveries of their babies. Plus the babies get U.S. citizenship.
And,
It's also disturbing because Ahmed's agency used thousands of government job-training funds to train Al-Qaeda terrorists to get commercial driver's licenses and hazardous material hauling certificates.
And his agency used government money to sponsor the University of Michigan Divestment (from Israel) Conference. Imagine what Ahmed will do with access to and control over Michigan's giant budget for everything that falls under "Human Services."
While you're there, follow the links where Schlussel gives more damning evidence of Ahmed's terrorism ties.
The big question here of course is, why are our newspapers offering themselves as lapdogs to our political leaders who pander to radical islamists? What ever happened to "speaking truth to power?" Sure, they'll slam Bush, Cheney, Rove, and any other conservative within reach, but there are no consequences for those attacks. There are consequences for speaking truth to Islam. So we have Debbie Schussel and other bloggers doing the jobs that American newspapers won't do. And believe me, there is a price to pay.
The Detroit News is the more conservative of Detroit's two dailies. When it comes to whitewashing our terror supporting Muslim neighbors, however, they are as willing and able as the more liberal Detroit Free Press to do the job. Both papers seem to have their staff apologists. Here is a recent whitewash - uh - I mean article concerning young local Muslims speaking up.
When Sofia Latif sees news reports portraying Muslims as terrorists, she sometimes sends e-mails to journalists deploring coverage she views as one-sided and urges them to publicize good works done in the name of Islam.
Like what?
Most of the Muslims interviewed said they deplore suicide bombing, that it defies the teachings of Islam and that terrorists cloak themselves in religion to excuse their evil acts. But they also stress that they understand the enormous frustration over conditions in the world that give rise to extremism.
Do all Muslims talk out of both sides of their mouths? And why does this "frustration leads to extremism" equation only apply to Muslims?
As part of their assertiveness, younger Muslims sought to explain some of the findings in the Pew poll, which found that 25 percent of Muslims ages 18-29 view themselves as Muslims first, before identifying themselves as Americans. It is not unusual, Muslims said, for many people to identify themselves by their faith. They cited a finding in a previous Pew poll that 42 percent of all Christians and 62 percent of evangelical Protestants say they are Christian first.
As for the finding about suicide bombing, many asserted that the Prophet Muhammad expressly prohibited even collateral damage in war, let alone intentional assaults on civilians. They also point to a poll published in February by the Christian Science Monitor revealing that 24 percent of Americans say that "bombing and other attacks intentionally aimed at civilians are often or sometimes justified."
As always, rather than taking responsibility and admitting there is a problem within Islam, they trot out the well-worn "moral equivalence" argument. When was the last terror attack by a Christian or any nonMuslim again? I can't remember either. Muslims must become familiar with the concept of "personal responsibility."I'm getting tired of every Islamic depravity anywhere in the world being somebody else's fault.
"I constantly feel that we are on the defensive," said Shahad Atiya, 19, of Bloomfield Hills. "Personally, I am sick and tired of that. I want to ask people, 'Why do you single me out?' "
Actually, ever since 9/11, Islam in this country has been on the offensive. It is the rest of us who are expected to be on the defensive and act like good dhimmi to avoid the dreaded accusation of "Islamophobia."
It's a good thing that Michael Chertoff and the Department of Homeland Security is on the job and protecting us from Islamic terror; right? Wrong! According to another Detroit News article,
While the NAACP has been fighting for the rights of African-Americans for nearly a century, it's important to fight for Muslim Americans in a post-9/11 world, the nation's Homeland Security chief told guests at the 98th NAACP national convention Tuesday evening.
"(We've) fought too long and too hard for the rights of African-Americans to turn our backs on the rights of Muslim Americans," Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff told a crowd of more than 600 at the Armed Services and Veteran Affairs awards dinner at the Renaissance Marriott Hotel.
Huh? Who is this idiot working for again? It certainly isn't the American public.
Not only haven't we not turned our back on the rights of Muslim Americans, but their rights are so well protected that they are busy demanding more rights: The right to wear a veil in court, the right of Muslim cabbies to refuse service to people carrying liquor or using a Seeing Eye dog, the right of Muslims to have footbaths built at the expense of the rest of us on university campuses, the right to disrupt airline flights, and once they gain these extra and special rights, they will, of course, demand more.
This Detroit News article actually appeared a few days after the scandal was first reported by Debbie Schlussel, who wrote,
Forget about the Constitutionally mandated separation of church and state . . . at least when it comes to mosque and state.
When students return in the fall, the University of Michigan-Dearbornistan is set to have Muslim footbaths in at least two locations.
And your tax funds are paying for it.
The News may never have brought this outrage to our attention except that,
. . . critics hit conservative blogs and radio airwaves Monday to argue public money shouldn't cover the cost.

A similar controversy erupted in April in Minnesota, when Minneapolis Community and Technical College officials were bombarded with thousands of angry e-mails after announcing plans to build foot wash stations.
The issue was fueled by criticism from conservative Internet bloggers. In Metro Detroit, Southfield attorney Debbie Schlussel is leading the charge against U-M Dearborn's plans, writing: "Forget about the Constitutionally mandated separation of church and state at least when it comes to mosqueand state."

The University of Michigan-Dearborn plans to spend $25,000 for foot-washing stations, making it easier for Muslim students to practice their religion but sparking questions about the separation of church and state.
The university claims the stations are needed to accommodate Muslim students, who must ritually wash their bodies -- including the feet -- up to five times each day before prayers.
If you read Schlussel's lengthy piece, you get a lot of needed information. She took the time to speak to some of the dhimmis responsible for this small acknowledgment of Islamic supremacy.

The Internet has created the fuss at U-M Dearborn, argued Dawud Walid, executive director of the Michigan branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
"To my knowledge, none of the students or staff have made any complaints about the foot-washing area," Walid said.
"This whole thing came to light through some right-wing Islama-phobic bloggers that want to promulgate the idea that the university is being Islama-fied."
There we are again, if Walid isn't aware of complaints, there weren't any. And of course, if you refuse to submit to being a dhimmi, you are an Islamophobe. OK, I will try to be as Islamophobic as Debbie Schlussel. There is no future in the alternative. Give them an inch, and as we see throughout the world, they will take your freedom as an individual.
I've already written to my local newspapers and all of my elected representatives. I have yet to hear back from any of my reps. That's to be expected, Michigan is a blue state. All of my reps are Democrats.

That's the experience of Leonard Mucheru a/k/a "Mushir Salem Jawher"--a world-class Catholic marathoner from Kenya--who sold himself and his religious status to Bahrain. Now, his life has been turned upside down because he dared to go to Israel in January and win the country's Tiberias Marathon. It's a phenomenon I've been following for years: Arab Muslim countries, whose native Muslim Arab inhabitants suck at all sports (except bomb-detonating and molotov-tossing), buy Black athletes from Africa. They make them convert to Islam, change their names, and the athletes then make Muslim countries--mostly Gulf States--into fake athletic powerhouses.
Today's Wall Street Journal--which has a front-page story on Mucheru/Jawher--reports this new form of Islamic slavery of athletes as a relatively new phenomenon, but it isn't. It's been going on for years. Still, the article is otherwise important, as it further highlights the anti-Semitic sports apartheid regularly practiced by our Islamic "allies," like the "moderate" Bahrain, which features the enlightened "Bahrain Society for Resisting Normalization With the Zionist Enemy." One wonders what the hazing is for initiation into that exclusive "club."

Saudi Aramco World, a free glossy magazine reports on the Asian Games, held this past December in the apartheid country of Qatar.
The biggest gathering of athletes in history. The first major international multi-sport event to be hosted by an Arab country. The world’s largest video projection, against a backdrop of dazzling pyrotechnics. All describe the 15th Asian Games staged in Doha, Qatar last December. Like the little engine that could, tiny Qatar put on two weeks of sport with style that will be hard for even the Olympics to top.
The author goes on to describe in glowing terms, the spirit of brotherhood and friendly competition that pervaded this event, comparing it favorably to the Olympics. Of course in the eyes of the participants, this surpassed the Olympics.
Later in the article however,
The Asian Games have another similarity with the Olympics: controversy. In addition to the long-standing question of professionals competing against amateurs, the common American and European practice of hiring top-notch athletes and coaches from other countries has begun to spread to those Asian countries that can afford it. For example, Qatar’s basketball coach is American Joseph Stiebing, and most of its soccer players are trained in Europe or Latin America.
“It is legal to bring athletes from outside the country,” al Malki says to critics. “Much of the world does it. We are a small nation, and to get results we need stars.”

This article makes no mention of the Israeli team. I have to assume that the spirit of Asian brotherhood only extends as far as the borders of the Jewish State. At the end of the article,
Members of the International Olympic Committee, which Qatar is wooing in its bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, also praised the ceremony, faulting only the weather.
I have to wonder, with the unabashed antisemitism of the Muslim world, and the increasing acceptance of antisemitism to Europe, will Qatar be allowed to discriminate against Israeli and other Jewish athletes if they do host the 2016 Olympics?
Thanks to the obnoxious comments of Andrew Young, there is now something that Jews and Arabs can agree upon. The former Wal-Mart spokesman joined Mel Gibson, and Cynthia McKinney in the High-Profile-Jew-Haters Club. In Young's case, though, he's expanded his hatred to Arabs and Koreans.
Young was asked about whether he was concerned that Wal-Mart causes smaller, mom-and-pop stores to close.
"Well, I think they should; they ran the mom-and-pop stores out of my neighborhood," the paper quoted Young as saying. "But you see, those are the people who have been overcharging us, selling us stale bread and bad meat and wilted vegetables. And they sold out and moved to Florida. I think they've ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it's Arabs; very few black people own these stores."
And now, to no one's surprise, Mr. Young is being denounced by Jewish, Arab, and Korean groups.
So, for a brief, shining moment, Arabs and Jews are on the same side of an issue. I know it's not much, but the fact that Jews and Arabs can agree on anything is a step in the right direction. For that I want to thank Mr. Young for publicly demonstrating his vile hatred, a hatred that Debbie Schlussel warned us about back in March.
. . . Now, there's Young--another reason why Wal-Mart is a poor choice as cause-celebre for conservatives. Andrew Young was forced to resign as Jimmy Carter's U.N. Ambassador in 1979 because he met with the P.L.O. and, through his actions, legitimized the group. The P.L.O. was a designated terrorist entity at the time and U.S. officials were forbidden with meeting with the group.
But Young didn't stop there. He predicted that his meeting with the Palestinian terrorists would create "the constituency for the Palestinians." It became a self-fulfilling prophecy. Many believe--with good reason--that Young met with these terrorists because of his hatred of Jews and his desire to further break down the disintegrating relationship between American Blacks and Jews.
Young became a defender and lionizer of Palestinian terrorists who brutally murdered U.S. officials (including the then-highest ranking Black diplomat George Curtis Moore--so bludgeoned that authorities could not differentiate him on sight from the White diplomat the Palestinians also tortured to death). But, also, Young's meeting became the prominent first step down the slippery legitimacy slope for what is now the HAMAS terror nation-state.

In a story about the Gaza operations, Associated Press Palestinian propagandist Ibrahim Barzak tosses off an insignificant tidbit of trivia:
In nearby Beit Lahiya, Palestinians fired at a car carrying a crew from the Arabic satellite TV channel Al-Jazeera, wounding two people, said Wael Dahdouh, one of the reporters in the car. The gunmen apparently thought the reporters were Israeli undercover agents, he said.
And that’s it. Because the Al Jazeera journalists were shot by Palestinians, the world’s media could not care less. Imagine if Israel had been responsible—there would be page one screaming headlines, demands for investigations, etc.
Debbie Schlussel has another story about journalists being abused by Palestinians, but this is no accident.
In 20 years in journalism, Majdi Arabeed says, his only weapon was his mouth. "Now I have a gun," he says, reaching behind his chair and dropping an AK-47 rifle on his desk.

Arabeed, owner and editor of the Gaza radio station al-Hurriya, says he has received phone and e-mail death threats from people claiming to be from Hamas, the militant group that now controls the Palestinian government. He suspended the station's news broadcasts in May, armed himself and hired two bulky bodyguards. News broadcasts have resumed on a limited basis, but Arabeed remains wary. . . .
Intimidation tactics
Arabeed and other Palestinian journalists say Hamas is trying to control news coverage.
Intimidation tactics compelled some media outlets, such as al-Hurriya, to suspend news coverage. Frightened columnists put down their pens. Hazem Abu Shanab, a communications lecturer at Gaza's Al Azhar University, stopped writing his column for Al-Hayat Al-Jadida and other newspapers.
Those tactics include:
* Death threats to journalists or outlets perceived as biased against Hamas, according to Arabeed and Reporters Without Borders, an advocacy group for journalists.
* Raids on radio and TV stations, including the sacking of Palestine TV's bureau in the southern Gaza town of Khan Yunis by gunmen claiming to be from Hamas.
* Sharp public criticism from Hamas officials.
I see a pattern developing.
No, not that pattern. Palestinian violence and intimidation to get their way is old news. But when it comes to reporting this violence, where is the MSM? Where is Eason Jordan?
Oh yeah. He resigned in disgrace after falsly accusing American soldiers of doing what Palestinian terrorists are really doing.
As already mentioned, had these journalists been harmed or theatened by Israel or the United States, someone would have followed in Eason Jordan's footsteps, and we'd have investigations and condemnations coming out of our ears. Are there any MSM news sources that really speak truth to power and will cover these stories condemning those who need to be condemned?
You already know the answer to that. Otherwise, you wouldn't be prowling the blogosphere.
