Burn, Baby, Burn

First of all, publicly burning a Qu'ran is a stupid thing to do. Being a book lover, I look at the burning of any book, even a lousy one, as a desecration. The "pastor" in charge of this fiasco needs to find a more intelligent way to make his point, like maybe doing some research into Islam so that he can spread that information. The more people who understand Islam and the terror and abuse it has spread, the brake it's put on freedom and civilization, the better we infidels will be able to battle it, along with its Leftist dhimmi enablers.

So far, the best commentaries on this silly episode come from Debbie Schlussel
Here’s what I view as far more offensive than the burning of Korans: that the outrage over this is more so than the outrage of any Islamic murder of Americans, any jihadist beheading videos featuring Westerners being slaughtered in the name of the Koran.
and Ann Coulter
Also, as I recall, there was no Guantanamo, no Afghanistan war and no Iraq war on Sept. 10, 2001. And yet, somehow, Osama bin Ladin had no trouble recruiting back then. Can we retire the "it will help them recruit" argument yet?
Michelle Malkin does a good job of reminding us that there are always Muslims somewhere outraged over something we in the West are doing or not doing.

I keep wondering when some big time pundit will point out that this tells us more about both Islam and the West than either their our our leaders are willing to admit. We are bombarded with worry warts insisting that this Qu'ran burning will be a tremendous recruiting tool for Al-Quaeda and the Taliban. These days it's hard to find any behavior from the West that isn't claimed as a propaganda coup for Islamic terrorists; cartoons of Mohammed, protests against the "Ground Zero Mosque", killing terrorists, the list is endless.

If, as we are constantly assured by the apologists, that it is only a "tiny minority" of Muslims who engage in terrorism, where are they finding so many Muslims who are inspired to be terrorists at the slightest provocation? Wait - not provocation - it's any act that any Muslim finds distasteful. And if it isn't terrorism, there will be riots, lots of riots featuring burning American flags, screaming, ranting, and more than a few random murders from outraged members of what we are - again - constantly assured, is a religion of peace (just chock full of Ghandis don't you know) . . . as long as we follow their rules, you know, as long as we act as dhimmis. If they're as peaceful as the apologists claim they are, why are they so damn easy to provoke?

It's past time to let the Islamic world know that we aren't interested in being lorded over by misogynistic, insecure, tyrannical, parasitic, seventh century barbarians. But that's the problem, isn't it? Our spineless leaders, along with our mainstream media, is afraid to take that stand. Somehow, they continue to take the coward's way out and insist that - really, it really is a religion of peace, honest, and anyone who claims otherwise is an "Islamophobe." And this is from the leaders and elites of the richest, most powerful society ever developed by mankind. They have decided to wimp out. It's every infidel for himself.

The Roman historian, Tacitus insisted that in order to remain strong, a society needs to be engaged in constant warfare (but I can't find the exact quote). Stop fighting, and men become lazy and indolent. I've never been much of a fighter myself, but as I've gotten older, and had a family, and have finally come to the understanding that there are things worth fighting for, and sometimes one does have to stand up or be trampled on, I've become more willing to stick my neck out, raise my voice, and challenge the enemies of civilization. While I don't relish war, when you compare Islam to the West, not only are they willing to die (but for all the wrong reasons), they're willing to watch their children die too, if not murder them outright. Meanwhile, our children are learning that there is nothing worth fighting for, that's in morally superior not to fight, and if we just reach out to our enemy, not think of them as "the other" and try and understand their grievances against us, and compromise, we will all learn to love one another and live together in peace and harmony, if you accept slavery as peace and harmony.

I'm sure our wonderful elites would make great slaves. They could work and demonstrate their moral superiority at the same time.

Two Videos

Here is a news video from Oregon. It seems the Oregon state government health program is willing to pay for this woman's suicide, but not for her chemo drugs. Drugs are expensive you know. And she is old. Is she now a burden on society?

And here is Michelle Malkin, discussing her new book, Culture of Corruption with the ladies on The View. Watch and notice, that there are no refutations of any of Malkin's charges. Of course, the liberal ladies haven't read that book as they would never lower themselves to read anything by anyone conservative. It might soil their progressive minds. Their two arguments against Malkin's book are, 1. Well, wasn't Bush corrupt too? and 2. Yeah, so what are we supposed to do about it?

Malkin takes them on with cold hard facts, but as usual, Whoopi and Joy treat their conservative "guest" with undisguised contempt. They're pretentious and condescending, as they are with all who come on to their show without the proper progressive, politically correct thoughts and feelings. How do I know that they're always like this? My wife watches sometimes, and if I'm in the room, I end up yelling at the TV.

Are We Healed Yet?

Some people, no matter how much they deny it, are obsessed with skin color. I don't want to claim that all liberals are racists though, just some of them. After all, some of my best friends are - um - liberal . . . really. With Obama's election to the presidency, the obsession with race, rather than abating, seems to have increased. Take Rochelle Riley's column in the Detroit Free Press. On the one hand, she does call on Detroit's black community to adopt an "I can" attitude.

On the other hand,
But black America must not miss Tuesday's greater lesson: Even as white people reevaluate their prejudices, black Americans -- some, not all -- must embrace a new standard of achievement.
Those accursed white people and their prejudices! They surely must be the only people on Earth who still harbor prejudices. Thank God they have reevaluated them.

Later in the piece,
We must work, regardless of race, using a language that doesn't split our country into colors and cultures, one that doesn't include words from a past our children do not remember. Black Americans must demand more of each other.
Does that include white people now that we have reevaluated our prejudices? (Well, except for me, you see . . . shhh, don't let this get out, but I didn't quite vote for Obama).

Rather than harping on the prejudices of white people, how about an examination of the prejudices of liberals? I googled it and came up empty, so I'm sure Ms. Riley wrote nothing on the liberal and black racist campaign against Maryland's Lt. Governor when he ran for the Senate. However, according to an article in the Washington Times, by way of Michelle Malkin,
Black Democratic leaders in Maryland say that racially tinged attacks against Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele in his bid for the U.S. Senate are fair because he is a conservative Republican.

Such attacks against the first black man to win a statewide election in Maryland include pelting him with Oreo cookies during a campaign appearance, calling him an “Uncle Tom” and depicting him as a black-faced minstrel on a liberal Web log.

Operatives for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) also obtained a copy of his credit report — the only Republican candidate so targeted.

But black Democrats say there is nothing wrong with “pointing out the obvious.”
Am I the only one who smells an insane and insulting double standard at work?

Malkin, of course, because she is officially a "woman of color" and therefore automatically afforded protected minority status, is routinely and viciously attacked by liberals and progressives because she dares to think for herself and embrace a conservative point of view. Since she doesn't toe the accepted party line, her protection has been stripped away and she's fair game . . . for the Left.

But Rochelle Riley and other members of the Obamanation don't want to admit, that much of the prejudice, hatred, and intolerance is a manifestation of the Left and is based on their self-image of moral superiority. This self-image has a long way to go before it gets close to reality.

T. Boone Pickens - Two Views

Newsweek sees his skulduggery as something to admire, almost to be chuckled at, or along with. T. Boone Pickens is an "evil" capitalist (or perhaps he's been downgraded to a rascally capitalist) they can admire because he's investing in water and wind instead of oil.
It's not as though Pickens doesn't have a few crafty deals on his own ledger. Five years ago he launched a controversial scheme to buy water rights around Roberts County, Texas, the same region of the panhandle where he plans to build his wind farm—and where he owns a 68,000-acre ranch. The idea was to pump water from the Ogallala aquifer to cities downstate. Though he never found a buyer for the water, Pickens did win the right of eminent domain for his pipeline. His attorneys applied to create an entity known as a groundwater-supply district, which was gerrymandered to include only two voters: his two ranch hands. The measure passed, to no one's surprise. Though Pickens says he has abandoned the water project, his lawyers want to use the water corridor to site a private transmission line from his panhandle wind farm to power-hungry cities. "You have to admire his guts and his gall," says Thomas (Smitty) Smith, director of Public Citizen, an advocacy group that opposed Pickens's water business.
Since he's been rehabilitated and now wants to bring Al Gore's vision to fruition, he can apparently do no wrong, even though he took land from other land owners for his own use by way of eminent domain, even though he used some shady (at least to me) gerrymandering to get his way and so that he can make a the huge profit that he claims he doesn't care about, and even though in order to make that profit that he really doesn't care about, he's demanding huge government subsidies. Nope, he's not evil anymore, not like those evil oil executives who dare to make "obscene" (as opposed to merely erotic) profits from the U.S. Government keeping a lid on our oil supplies.

For the rest of the story, let's visit Michelle Malkin and see what kind of shenanigans, Pickens, and one of his investment partners, Nancy Pelosi are up to.
Naturally, the Pickens Big Wind plan is proudly endorsed by Do-Nothing Pelosi’s friends at the obstructionist Sierra Club. Through another company, Mesa Power, Pickens has committed upwards of $12 billion in wind farms on the Texas panhandle. CEFC and Mesa Power are separate entities. But what benefits one piece of the Pickens puzzle benefits them all. The wind venture, as Pickens himself acknowledges, depends on permanent federal subsidies.

Pickens is banking on ‘em. And Pelosi’s banking on him.

As reported on #dontgomovement.com, Speaker Pelosi bought between $50,000 and $100,000 of stock in Pickens’ CLNE Corp. in May 2007 on the day of the initial public offering:

“She, and other investors, stand to gain a substantial return on their investment if gasoline prices stay high and municipal, state and even the Federal governments start using natural gas as their primary fuel source. If gasoline prices fall? Alternative fuels and the cost to convert fleets over to them becomes less and less attractive.
Things are different when the Speaker of the House, the one who promised the most ethical Congress ever, is an investor in your scheme. And when you have Newsweek Magazine covering for you because you've become politically correct, the rules no longer apply to you. Then you can be as shady and dishonest as you want, because for some, the ends justify the means. And watch out for those ends. They will get us in the end.

So from Newsweek we have another solid example of opinion disguised as news. From Michelle Malkin, we have another shining example of why the brain-dead weasels on the Left hate her. The nerve of that woman, exposing the facts that Newsweek didn't want us to know!

The Embarrassment of Not Getting the Joke

Poor Desiree Cooper of the Detroit Free Press didn't get the joke. Cooper is quite upset that the normally erudite New Yorker magazine didn't fall for Mr. and Mrs. Obama's sanitizing of their image, even though they went through all that trouble of dragging their children into the public eye, using them as campaign fodder, in order to make them seem like the all-American middle class family. For as she says,
Only two weeks ago, the Obamas gave an interview with their two young daughters to help America see them as a typical family.
and
His wife -- who was a recent hit on "The View" wearing a chic summertime frock.
Those are the official party-approved images of the Obamas that we're supposed to keep in our heads, at the risk of being called "racist". They look like regular folks, so they must be just like the rest of us. What woman in the world could possibly be objectionable who is wearing a "chic summertime frock"? We're supposed to forget that Obama has surrounded himself with domestic terrorists, racists, criminals, and various America haters. Not only are they his friends, but they are his advisers, both political and spiritual. Don't we all have people like that among our associates?

But this anti-Obama sentiment is wrong and hateful. And we're not supposed to be disturbed by the fact that a man who wants to become President of the United States doesn't seem to like the United States very much. We have to ignore that though because,
Our country has not yet come to grips with the aftermath of 9/11, our shameful backlash against Muslims, the violation of human and constitutional rights of many probable innocents at Guantanamo Bay, the death of thousands of American troops in an ill-conceived war, and, of course, our long-term dysfunction about race. To heap all of those fears and stereotypes upon the Obamas and call it satire misses a critical step.
Actually, Cooper misses a critical step; removing herself from her fantasy world where Americans are the bad guys and Muslims who are murdering people all over the world are victims of American imperialism, colonialism, etc. Cooper doesn't seem to care much for the U.S. either. She needs to open her eyes to what's really happening in the world and open her mind to the vicious immorality inherent in the jihadist mindset of Islam. They are the ones refusing to live in peace with the rest of the world, and that's been their position for the past 1300 years. But according to Cooper,
The added insult here is the collateral damage done to Muslims. People are upset over how the Obamas have been depicted, but not about how Muslims are once again shown as extremists and terrorists. Instead of shedding light on the religiously biased, xenophobic, racist thinking that persists in America, the New Yorker has served only to reinforce the worst of our irrational thoughts about who the Obamas are, what it means to be Muslim and what will happen if Barack Obama wins the White House.
In light of the over 11,000 terror attacks that have taken place since 9/11, the determination of Muslims all over the world to destroy Israel - because it is a Jewish country, and the changes happening in Europe due to growing Muslims minorities, it's quite rational to be wary of Muslims and Muslim organizations.

And then there's Leonard Pitts. He recognizes the New Yorker cover as satire, but it's those others who don't.
So, as absurd, as over the top, as utterly outlandish as the New Yorker image strikes the more sophisticated among us, there is a large fringe out there for whom it will represent nothing more or less than the sum of their fears.

Indeed, as I sat down to write these words, there beeped into my mailbox an e-mail with this subject line: "WOW, the New Yorker got it exactly right, for once." Said without a trace of irony.

But increasingly, that's who we are in this country: ignorant, irony-impaired and petrified. So maybe we should just cancel the campaign and ask that the last intelligent person turn off the lights when he or she leaves. And bring the last book with you. Nobody here will need it.
See, even though the Left has been foaming at the mouth over this cartoon, Pitts knows that it's really conservatives who are so humor impaired that they don't get the joke. Thanks for the clarification.

Michelle Malkin has reprinted some cartoons that probably didn't offend Desiree Cooper or anybody else on the left for that matter.

Why are Oil Prices Falling?

I couldn't help but notice that as soon as President Bush ended the presidential moratorium on drilling in the sacred, forbidden, offshore areas, oil prices went down. That was yesterday. They've gone down further today. I thought there could be a connection. The Detroit Free Press, wedded to a certain way of thinking, had other explanations for the fall of oil prices. But if there's one thing I've learned about the "progressive" mindset, it is that - for every true statement from the non-progressive side, they've got a barrel full of contrary explanations, very few of which can stand up to scrutiny, which is probably why they need so many arguments to convince us nonprogressives that we need to believe them over our own lying eyes.

Anyway, over at NRO Online, Larry Kudlow, who I assume knows a lot more about this than I do, says,
In a dramatic move yesterday President Bush removed the executive-branch moratorium on offshore drilling. Today, at a news conference, Bush repeated his new position, and slammed the Democratic Congress for not removing the congressional moratorium on the Outer Continental Shelf and elsewhere. Crude-oil futures for August delivery plunged $9.26, or 6.3 percent, almost immediately as Bush was speaking, bringing the barrel price down to $136.

Now isn’t this interesting?

Democrats keep saying that it will take 10 years or longer to produce oil from the offshore areas. And they say that oil prices won’t decline for at least that long. And they, along with Obama and McCain, bash so-called oil speculators. And today we had a real-world example as to why they are wrong. All of them. Reid, Pelosi, Obama, McCain — all of them.

Traders took a look at a feisty and aggressive George Bush and started selling the market well before a single new drop of oil has been lifted. What does this tell us? Well, if Congress moves to seal the deal, oil prices will probably keep on falling. That’s the way traders work. They discount the future. Psychology and expectations can turn on a dime.

The congressional ban on offshore drilling expires September 30, so that becomes a key date. A new report from Wall Street research house Sanford C. Bernstein says that California actually could start producing new oil within one year if the moratorium were lifted. The California oil is under shallow water and already has been explored. Drilling platforms have been in place since before the moratorium. They’re talking about 10 billion barrels worth off the coast of California.

There’s also a “gang of 10” in the Senate, five Republicans and five Democrats, that is trying to work a compromise deal on lifting the moratorium. So it’s possible a lot of action on this front could occur much sooner than people seem to think.

So I repeat: Drill, drill, drill. Deregulate, decontrol, and unleash the American energy industry. Those hated traders will then keep selling oil as the laws of supply and demand and free markets keep working.

Bravo for Bush. Bravo for the traders.
Democrats, though, will, according to Michelle Malkin, continue, along with environmentalists, to hold our economy hostage. How long will the American people allow this? I don't know, but I'm going to fire off another letter to my elected representatives. The other ones don't seem to have done much good, but if they turn out to be part of an avalanche of letters and phone calls, maybe we can see some change from these so-called servants of the people.

Qatar; Looks 21st Century, Acts 7th Century

By way of Michelle Malkin, I found an update on the new church in Qatar. Globe and Mail reports,
Qatar's first Christian church has no cross, no bell and no steeple.

And when thousands of worshippers gather at Our Lady of the Rosary to mark Easter, they pray no one will notice.

"The idea is to be discreet because we don't want to inflame any sensitivities. There isn't even a signboard outside the church. No signs at all," said Rev. Tom Veneracion.

For Qatar's fledgling Roman Catholic community, the sprawling $15-million, dome-shaped building, a 15-minute drive into barren desert is a victory, built with the blessing of the current emir.

But critics in this devoutly Muslim country call it a desecration, with a militant website last week threatening retaliation against the congregation. One former politician has called for a national referendum to decide its fate.

Lahdan bin Issa al-Muhanada, a popular columnist in Doha's Al-Arab newspaper, argues: "The cross should not be raised in the sky of Qatar, nor should bells toll in Doha."
and
But it remains unclear whether average Qataris will accept the church, or whether a backlash will force it to close.
At this point it doesn't even matter that the ruler of Qatar allowed a church to be built. What matters is that there is even a debate about it in a supposedly modern and up to date country that expects to hold the Olympics in 2012. What matters is that there are useful idiots in the West, where freedom reigns (for now) who preach accommodating these "devoutly Muslim" barbarians and tolerating their intolerance of anything anywhere that deviates from the teachings of Islam. If Islam demands respect, Islam had better grow up and start giving respect. Respect is a two way street.

SUVs of the Gods?

In all of the excitement over the Live Earth concerts, many people may have missed this recent report from The Detroit Free Press in their Science News section,
Ice-covered Greenland really was green a half-million or so years ago, covered with forests in a climate much like that of eastern Canada today.

An international team of researchers recovered ancient DNA from the bottom of an ice core and found the presence of pine, yew and alder trees as well as insects.

The researchers, led by Eske Willerslev of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, say the findings are the first direct proof that there was forest in southern Greenland.

Included were genetic traces of butterflies, moths, flies and beetles, they report in today's edition of the journal Science.

The material was recovered from cores drilled through ice 1.2 miles thick in south central Greenland.
So who was driving the SUVs that caused that kind of global warming a half million years ago?

And speaking of "saving the Earth" read Michelle Malkin's report on this series of Earth-saving concerts. She's got some great links, the best being this one.
The Live Earth event is, in the words of one commentator: "a massive, hypocritical fraud".

For while the organisers' commitment to save the planet is genuine, the very process of putting on such a vast event, with more than 150 performers jetting around the world to appear in concerts from Tokyo to Hamburg, is surely an exercise in hypocrisy on a grand scale.

Matt Bellamy, front man of the rock band Muse, has dubbed it 'private jets for climate change'.

A Daily Mail investigation has revealed that far from saving the planet, the extravaganza will generate a huge fuel bill, acres of garbage, thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions, and a mileage total equal to the movement of an army.

The most conservative assessment of the flights being taken by its superstars is that they are flying an extraordinary 222,623.63 miles between them to get to the various concerts - nearly nine times the circumference of the world. The true environmental cost, as they transport their technicians, dancers and support staff, is likely to be far higher.

The total carbon footprint of the event, taking into account the artists' and spectators' travel to the concert, and the energy consumption on the day, is likely to be at least 31,500 tonnes of carbon emissions, according to John Buckley of Carbonfootprint.com, who specialises in such calculations.

Throw in the television audience and it comes to a staggering 74,500 tonnes. In comparison, the average Briton produces ten tonnes in a year.

The concert will also generate some 1,025 tonnes of waste at the concert stadiums - much of which will go directly into landfill sites.

Moreover, the pop stars headlining the concerts are the absolute antithesis of the message they promote - with Madonna leading the pack of the worst individual rock star polluters in the world.

Sepermodel Kate Moss, another profligate polluter through her use of private jets, is producing a T-shirt for the event. Yet, Gore is touting the concerts as 'carbon neutral'. So how can that be?

Let us start with some facts. Worldwide, an audience of around 1,268,500 is expected to attend the concerts - making it one of the largest global events in history.

Dr Andrea Collins, an expert in sustainability from Cardiff University, has researched the impact of such mass gatherings on the environment.

"An event of this size at Wembley - which holds 65,000 at a rock concert, will generate around 59 tonnes of waste," she says. "That is largely composed of the rubbish from food and drink consumption."

She found that a Wembley-sized football match generated an 'ecological footprint' of 3,000 global hectares - an area the size of 4,166 football pitches. This is the amount of bioproductive land required to absorb the C02 emissions produced by such an event.
Oops! It's so good, I swiped it. You should read the whole article, though.

This is a short post. It's very hot today and I have to water my lawn. Could it be global warming? Probably, the global warming we get every year in Michigan in July and August. We also get global cooling in December and January, all man-made I'm sure. Climate change, you know.

Have Republicans "gone French"?

They spend like drunken Democratic politicians, losing all sense of fiscal responsibility, help the government grow even more bloated, and now some weenie - uh - I mean "moderate Republicans" have joined their Democratic counterparts in supporting jihad by keeping ANWR and the continental shelf closed to oil drilling. They caved to the environmentalists again. There's more at Michelle Malkin and still more from Michelle Malkin.

PETA Sinks to a New Low

I found this link at Michelle Malkin. When it comes to the opposite of smart, there is now stupid, really stupid, and PETA stupid.
A two-hour animal rights demonstration on the Green Monday sparked outrage instead of sympathy from the public.

"This is the most racist thing I’ve ever seen on the Green. How dare you," roared Philip Goldson, 43, of New Haven at the protest organizers at Church and Chapel streets.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, a national animal rights group, posted giant photographs of people, mostly black Americans, being tortured, sold and killed, next to photographs of animals, including cattle and sheep, being tortured, sold and killed.

"I think it is an apt comparison," said Josh Warchol, 26, of Wallingford, president of the Southern Connecticut Vegetarian Society, which is aligned with PETA.

[ . . .]

Eight of the 12 banners compared the suffering of black Americans to the suffering of cattle, sheep, an elephant, a seal and a rooster. Other banners showed Native Americans exiled from their homes, children in a factory and men in a counter-demonstration against women’s rights.

A photo showing a concentration camp inmate with a number tattooed across his emaciated chest was juxtaposed against a shot of a monkey in a laboratory with a number branded across its chest.
This certainly begs the question, how stupid can a person be and still function as a human being?

Oops! No Koran Abuse in Nashville

When the alleged Koran abuse story was posted last week on Little Green Footballs, it followed on the footsteps of another report, this one about a teenaged Muslim girl being severly beaten by her brother for dating an infidel.I left the following comment on LGF as sonofsheldon:
MEMO
To: The Police
From: The Muslim Community
Re: Responding to crimes in the Muslim community.

If we murder our daughters, that is our business, not yours. Stay away.

In all cases of Koran desecration, real, contrived, phony, or imagined; get here NOW.

cc: to the FBI
From my point of view, that of a caring father, some in the Muslim community have their priorities mixed up.

Now we find, according to Michelle Malkin (and from today's Detroit Free Press) the whole incident was a big misunderstanding.
It turns out, you see, that the burnt Koran was left at the mosque by…a Muslim student.

According to the AP, a Muslim Virginia Tech student took responsibility saying he dropped off the burned Koran and other singed materials at the mosque, hoping "it could be given a respectful disposal." Police Lt. Bruce Bradberry reported that the student, who was not named, apparently contacted police last week, "saying he was going to be traveling abroad and didn't know what to do with the Koran, which had been burned in a 2004 house fire. The student said he placed the book and other fire-damaged materials in a bag and left the bag at the Islamic Center with a note, which apparently blew away."

Whoops.
We know that neither CAIR nor any of the other organizations representing the American Muslim community will apologize for their agonized cries of racism, islamophobia, hate crime, un-American behavior, and what ever other claims they could invent to stoke the fires of victimhood. I can live with that. They have their agenda. It's clear to anyone who will listen.

What bothers me are the infidel Americans who buy into this twisted thought process. I still don't know why so many in the MSM side with the enemy. Do they hate Bush so much that they've become irrational? Have they so lost their faith in western values and civilization that they're willing to play into the hands of an inferior, theocratic, culture that is trying to swallow us? I've read and listened to the explanations by pundits that I trust; Dennis Prager, Victor Hanson, and others, but it still doesn't make any sense.

Western civilization has given more to the world in terms of morality, wealth, and innovation than any civilization that has ever existed. No we are not perfect. There is no perfection this side of the grave. But how can people who have landed at the top in terms of wealth, quality of life, and influence embrace such a hateful regime?

As Iowahawk wrote here and especially here in two masterful satirical pieces that earned the wrath, and demonstrated the stupidity of some on the left especially at the Daily Kos:
And the next time one of you chicken martyrs puts on a keffiya and starts babbling about “solidarity with the resistance,” remember this: just because we are planning to kill you last doesn’t make you our buddy.
That doesn't sound very funny, but like the best satire, it tells the truth. And that is definitely the truth. So why don't those resentful dopes on the left get it?

Iraqi News

I linked to Michael Yon from Michelle Malkin. He's a reporter in Iraq with a blog. While all of the news he's reporting isn't good, it's honest, and he's got a great explanation of how the "news" from Iraq is reported, filtered, and simplified until the MSM decides it's dumbed-down enough and negative enough for consumer consumption. It's got the usual anti-American, sensationalized, we're-in-a-quagmire, bush-lied-people-died style of reporting beat every which way. Yes, there are other stories coming out of Iraq, but this is one worth reading.
