NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — The Kenyan military remained in a tense standoff with Islamic extremists Sunday, as the toll rose to 59 dead, including children, and 175 wounded in the attack at an upscale mall, a Kenyan minister said.
Multiple barrages of gunfire erupted Sunday morning from inside the building where hostages are being held by militants. The radicals attacked the mall Saturday and remained inside throughout the night.
"The priority is to save as many lives as possible," Joseph Lenku said, reassuring the families of the hostages in the upscale Westgate mall. Kenyan forces have already rescued about 1,000 people, he said.
Ten to 15 attackers remain in the mall and Kenyan forces control the security cameras inside the shopping center, Lenku said. Combined military and police forces surrounded the mall in the Westlands neighborhood of Nairobi, which is frequented by foreigners and wealthy Kenyans.
Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga told reporters at the mall that he has been told officials couldn't determine the exact number of hostages inside the mall.
"There are quite a number of people still being held hostage on the third floor and the basement area where the terrorists are still in charge," Odinga said.
Somalia's al-Qaida-linked rebel group, al-Shabab, claimed responsibility for the attack in which they used grenades and assault rifles and specifically targeted non-Muslims.
PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — A pair of suicide bombers detonated their explosives outside a historic church in northwestern Pakistan on Sunday, killing 75 people in the deadliest-ever attack on the country's Christian minority, officials said. A wing of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing in the city of Peshawar, saying it would continue to target non-Muslims until the United States stopped drone attacks in the country's remote tribal region.

Official: 143 killed by extremists in Nigeria

An environmental department official says workers combing bushes have recovered the bodies of at least 143 civilians killed by suspected Islamic militants in northeast Nigeria.
Abdulazeez Kolomi told The Associated Press that environmental workers also found some beheaded corpses among victims of a Tuesday night attack on a major highway and Benisheik village some 45 miles (70 kilometers) northeast of the Borno state capital of Maiduguri. (AP)

Meanwhile in the Philippines, Islamic terrorism in the service of jihad and a world-wide caliphate is rewarded as the Philippine government, with the blessings of the United States government, surrenders. Of course, we, the unenlightened masses, are supposed to see this in a positive light, as a step toward peace.
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 7, 2012) – The United States on Sunday praised the framework of a peace agreement between the Philippine government and Moro Islamic Liberation Front rebels and vowed to continue supporting the Mindanao peace process.
“We welcome the announcement by the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front that the two sides finalized a framework peace agreement. While much work remains, successful implementation of this agreement would improve security, stability, and development for the people of Mindanao,” said Ambassador Harry Thomas, Jr. in a statement sent to the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.
He said the Washington has long supported peace and stability in Mindanao.
“We will continue to look for ways to support the people of Mindanao as they accelerate broad-based and inclusive growth. We fully support the ongoing peace process and hope the parties can continue to avoid violence as they work toward a final resolution that will last for generations and benefit all the people of the Philippines,” Thomas said.
Thomas statement came after President Benigno Aquino announced the establishment of the Bangsamoro autonomous region that would expand the current Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to include the municipalities of Baloi, Munai, Nunungan, Pantar, Tagoloan and Tangkal in Lanao del Norte province and all villages in the municipalities of Kabacan, Carmen, Aleosan, Pigkawayan, Pikit, and Midsayap that voted for inclusion in the ARMM during the 2001 plebiscite. We know that now that they were handed one piece of the Philippines, they will immediately begin a terrorist war to get more - in defense of Islam, and as always, and - you'd better repeat this over and over until it sticks in your unenlightened brain - in the interests of peace. I wonder how many "ongoing peace processes" we'll have over the next few years as other governments give up their own fights against their Islamic insurgencies. And how long, how many generations, will the "ongoing peace process" last in the Philippines as the jihadists continue their fight, always blaming the other side for the violence that is sure to continue because that is the business of Islam?

The fact that there was one terrorist who wasn't a Muslim was and is enough to ignore the fact that there have been over 18,000 deadly Islamic terror attacks since 9/11.
We already know from previous experience in Gitmo that when the U.S. catches and releases Islamic terrorists, they have a 97% recidivism rate of going back to jihad and murdering more innocent Westerners. And so it goes with Mohammed Merah, who was never even detained by us or sent to Gitmo during his sojourns of bomb-planting in Afghanistan, but sent on his merry way to murder four innocent Jews–three of them young children–at Toulouse, France’s Ozar HaTorah school and other Frenchman. (Thanks, Gerald.) Not only did we NOT detain him, we sent him back to France to perform his jihadist mission. Incredible.

European government leaders may even be feeding fears of Islam through measures such as bans on face veils on the streets, aimed at appeasing a non-Muslim majority wary about the continent's rising Muslim population.
Of course the over 17,000 Islamic terrorist attacks had nothing to do with Islam or the Qu'ran, just lone nuts perverting a religion of peace. It's only the pernicious anti-jihad writings that drive people to shoot up groups of young adults and blow up government buildings.
I complain about the double standard the MSM demonstrates when it comes to Israel, but it's not just Israel. It's anything that disagrees with their perverted world view. They've misinterpreted reality in order to minimize terror attacks by Muslims, while exaggerating the danger from those scary right wing extremists. In addition to the 17,000 deadly Islamic terror attacks since 9/11, there are also the ones that were broken up before they could come to fruition. I suppose those don't count, because the jihadists based their attacks on passages and commandments from the Qu'ran while ignoring or not even being aware of guys like Robert Spencer. Israel, in this case, is just a symptom of the problem. It's a lonely outpost of Western Civilization in the midst of Islamic barbarism. Since the Left romanticizes the barbarism that they don't have to live with, but only read about and excuse, Israel becomes the problem. It, like the rest of Western Civilization, ends up on the wrong end of the double standard.
The people who pass off Islamic terror attacks against Israel are in mourning over the terror attack in Norway. The irony is that the people who were murdered in Uyota were working to destroy Israel. While I think this massacre was a monstrous act committed by a truly evil individual, the victims too, were on the side of evil. We also have weasel words from the Norwegian ambassador comparing this massacre with anti-Israel terror attacks.
In an interview with the Israeli daily Maariv, Norway's ambassador to Israel Svein Sevje patiently explained that he wanted to "outline the similarity and the difference in the two cases."
Palestinians, the ambassador told Maariv, "are doing this because of a defined goal that is related to the Israeli occupation. There are elements of revenge against Israel and hatred of Israel. To this you can add the religious element to their actions."
"In the case of the terror attack in Norway, the murderer had an ideology that says that Norway, particularly the Labor Party, is forgoing Norwegian culture," Sevje said, referring to Anders Breivik.
"We Norwegians consider the occupation to be the cause of the terror against Israel," he said. "Those who believe this will not change their mind because of the attack in Oslo."
This came after Israel was one of the first countries to reach out to Norway after the attacks and offer its condolences and assistance.
I'd like to feel more sympathetic toward the Norwegians in their hour of trauma, but I can't. They've embraced the evil of anti-Semitism and they've taken sides against the West, allowing and almost welcoming the Islamic conquest of their country. They ignore the fact that their granddaughters will be forced to dress "modestly" and their grandsons will be dhimmi. That's some legacy to leave your family. But rather than look that far ahead, we can see degradation of Norwegian society in what's happening right now.

Yet Unni Wikan, a professor of social anthropology at the University of Oslo, said in 2001 that because Muslim men found their manner of dress provocative:
“Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes.”
The professor’s conclusion was not that Muslim men living in the West needed to adjust to Western norms, but the exact opposite:
“Norwegian women must realise that we live in a multi-cultural society and adapt themselves to it.”

"I have made it clear that the United States of America wants to move beyond this past, and seeks a relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran based upon mutual interests and mutual respect."
Does Obama have a lead to a hint of a clue to what is going on in Iran and the rest of the world, especially the Islamic world? This event? Who provoked "this event?" Or is it to divisive to ask such an obvious question? Mutual interests? We have no mutual interests with the government of Iran. We are The Great Satan, remember? As for mutual respect, we are the infidel. We dwell in Dar al Harb, the house of war, as distinguished from Dar al Islam, the house of submission. We are merely fresh meat (as we were reminded again today, this time at Ft. Hood) for jihadists. To them, we are here to be converted to Islam, or be forced to pay the jizya if we don't. We are (or at least I am) descended from apes and pigs.

I went to hear Brigette Gabrielle speak today. She's quite a passionate speaker, and she's got a frightening story to tell. All of the things that the anti-jihadists have been warning us about for years, have already happened to her. She's Lebanese, and her formative years coincided with the destruction of Lebanese society by Islamic jihadists.
Lebanon used to be a tiny majority Christian nation surrounded by Islamic dictatorships (well, except for that tiny "zionist entity" to its south). Now it's a tiny puppet state of Syria. Beirut, Lebanon's capital, used to be known as the Paris of the Middle East. Now it's - I don't know what it is. We don't hear much about it anymore. And while we read, over the years it took place, about the destruction of Lebanon, I don't think we were really paying attention to the details.
The once free, proud, and democratic country of Lebanon, prided itself on its welcoming attitude to all, even non-Christians including "Palestinian refugees", its multicultural attitude, and its general success in creating a free society. And how have they been rewarded for this generosity?
Ever since they first welcomed the viper, Arafat, to their breast, they've been on the losing end of the Jihad. Thanks to the entrance of the PLO to Lebanon, there's been civil war, desecration and destruction of churches (remember the siege of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, where PLO members were not afraid to desecrate a Christian shrine, but worldwide pressure was placed on Israel to avoid damaging the church?), massacres of Christian civilians, and attacks on Israel, who, after an insanely long period of patience, finally invaded to try and lift the yoke of Islam from the Lebanese Christian population. Since it was Israel, however, who tried to stem the tide of jihadist slaughter, guess who was painted as the bad guy?
Up until Israel entered the fray, nobody really cared about the Lebanese Christians, just as nobody today cares about the various wars, and massacres, and other pathologies throughout the African continent (Sudan, Congo, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, etc.) and the continued slow strangulation of freedom in Lebanon, because nobody really cares - unless Israel is involved.
So when it comes to Lebanon, nobody can say the world community had anything against the Lebanese. It didn't matter that Lebanon was one of two countries in the Middle East where people were allowed and encouraged to create wealth (even in the absence of oil), offer freedom, build an excellent educational system and have access to medical care for all. By ignoring the fate of Lebanon for all these years, even though the destruction has been covered by the world's press, we are ignoring the future that the Islamists have planned for all of us. They've told us, they've shown us. Most of us just don't want to listen. Islam is a religion of peace we've been told. Many westerners have forced themselves to believe it.
As for the ruin of Lebanon? Hasn't that been blamed on Israel. After all, what catastrophe in the Middle East hasn't been blamed on Israel or the Jews?

According to India's security services, police, intelligence analysts, local traders and forestry officials, Islamic militants affiliated to al-Qaida are sponsoring poaching in the reserve for profit. These groups have established bases in the formerly moderate enclave of Bangladesh and have agents operating all along the country's porous 2,500-mile border with India. They have gone into business with local animal trappers and organised crime syndicates around Kaziranga - as well as in parks and reserves in Nepal, Burma and Thailand - in a quest for horns, ivory, pelts and other animal products with which to raise "under the wire" funds that they can move around the world invisibly.
A small rhino horn, the size of a bag of sugar, with good provenance (the beast's tail and ears, presented to a prospective buyer) and in the right marketplace (in Asia, Europe or North America), can fetch £20,000. Big cat pelts can go for up to £10,000. Monkey brains, bear bile, musk, big cat carcasses, elephant feet, tails, horns and teeth have considerable value. A shipment worth £2.8m was recently intercepted by UK customs. Profits from the trade run from $15bn to an incredible $25bn a year, according to estimates from the WWF (formerly the World Wide Fund for Nature). The punishment for trading in these items is generally a fine as low as £300 in India and £900 in Nepal. A senior Indian security source, based in the north-east, who has tracked the incursion into the trade by Bangladeshi militants, warns that the poaching has global consequences. "There is an environmental disaster in the offing here, but as pressing are the security ramifications," he says. "Only a minuscule percentage of the vast profits need to trickle back into a nascent Islamic insurgency in a country like Bangladesh to bring it to the boil. And then it can reach out around the world."
It's a fairly lengthy article, but one that should be read by all "Greens". If you are truly concerned about the envirnment, help battle against the jihad, if only to save the lives of innocent rhinos and elephants.
"They could have been any one of our brothers, our husbands, our fathers," said Delia Hadhad, 23, of Dearborn and a friend of the Houssaiky family. "I understand the American people are scared, but at the same time, you can't terrorize people inside your own country. We're citizens, too ... we have a right to run businesses, to live our lives."
Abulhassan and Houssaiky said they were trying to do just that.
"There was never any question that we were innocent -- we knew all our friends and family knew we were innocent," Abulhassan said.
Last week, in the early morning hours of Aug. 8, the two American-born friends left Dearborn for a summer road trip to buy hundreds of cell phones that they planned to resell for a profit. It's a common practice among Arab-American businessmen to load up on particular products and resell them to distributors, gas stations, and stores.
"We were definitely very surprised," Abulhassan said Tuesday of the arrest. "They told us it was just a misdemeanor and that we'd be out in the morning."
But two days later, they were charged with two counts of terrorism under Ohio laws that had just gone into effect months earlier.
Police were suspicious, said Washington County Prosecutor James Schneider, because in their vehicle was a security guide for Royal Jordanian Airlines that contained information on passenger lists. Houssaiky's mother, Nada Houssaiky, works in the airline industry.
But police were worried that the cell phones the men were buying could be sent overseas to detonate bombs. In recent years, some terrorists have set off explosives using cell phones. Meanwhile, in Caro, three Arab-American men from Texas -- brothers Adham Othman, 21, of Dallas and Louai Othman, 23, of Mesquite, and their cousin Awad Muhareb, 18, also of Mesquite -- remained locked in Tuscola County jail. The men had photos of the Mackinac Bridge and 1,000 cell phones.
But their attorney, Nabih Ayad, said they were merely trying to earn some money -- like the Dearborn men -- and were just taking tourist photos of the bridge.
This is quite a sympathetic overview of the situation. Haven't we had trouble with other Muslim "tourists" taking photos of targets.

Local authorities here dropped felony terrorism charges against Houssaiky and his friend Osama Abulhassan allowing the American-born Arab men to return to Dearborn with their families.
The case remains under investigation, officials said, and both men still could face indictment if additional evidence surfaces. The FBI has been apprised of the case, but has not opened an investigation, according to an agency spokesman in Cincinnati.
For a week, the men, who bought disposable cell phones that were feared to be part of a terror plot, were jailed together and kept away from other inmates in the Washington County Jail. They were confident they would eventually be exonerated but were uncertain how long it would take.
"We just want to make sure our family and friends stick with us," Abulhassan said after an emotional hug with his father, Sobih Abulhassan. "We'll get our reputations back."
Both men checked their anger and largely declined to elaborate on their week behind bars. Abulhassan said it was obvious that the sheriff's deputy who arrested them did so only because they are of Arab descent. In jail, "they weren't treating us well. claim torture, that's what the jihad manual says to do-H) But after a couple days, they told us, 'We found out you're good guys,' " Houssaiky said.
Abulhassan, 20, and Houssaiky were standout students and athletes at Fordson High School. They are college students who looked to make money reselling the popular TracFones purchased in several states, including Ohio.
They found themselves in jail Aug. 8 after a Radio Shack clerk reported their cell phone purchases to police and said the men were acting suspiciously. The FBI had issued a warning this summer alerting law enforcement to be on the lookout for consumers making large purchases of cell phones.
Their arrest stunned friends and former teachers. Their fathers noted that no one who knows them doubted their innocence. Even so, the charges -- filed by an assistant prosecutor while her boss was on vacation last week -- hurt, the family said.
"It's disappointing when you consider a place your home, and they take that from you," Diana Houssaiky said of the incident. "They tried to make it sound like you wanted to destroy it."
Perhaps it was inevitable that two young Arabic men with $10,837 in cash and an interest in cell phones said to be used to trigger bombs were bound to attract attention in a small southeastern Ohio town that is 98 percent white and where American flags line the street.(or anywhere else in the country these days-H
After a deputy pulled them over for not using their turn signal, he found airline information in their car that authorities regarded as ominous.
What they didn't understand is that Nada Houssaiky, Ali's mother, works in customer service for Aircraft Service International Group at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. What the deputy saw in her car was her training manual, she said.(I certainly believe that-H)
"It was a nightmare," Nada Houssaiky said of the ordeal.
Washington County Prosecutor James Schneider disputed that account, saying that papers in the glove box included detailed airline information, including how to remotely check baggage.(Hmm, obviously an "Islamophobe"-H)
He added that Nada Houssaiky has not cooperated with his office in the investigation.(Is that what the advisor at CAIR advised?-H)
Schneider let the two men go after checking with the FBI.
"We couldn't make the tie-in" to terrorism, he said.
Both men must return to court here Sept. 1 on a misdemeanor charge of falsification. Authorities said the men gave two accounts of why they purchased the phones.
"I have a feeling it had to do more with a language barrier than anything else," said Dennis Sipe, Houssaiky's attorney.(that accursed language barrier! How many young peaceful Muslims has it driven to violence?!-H)
While not the damning indictment it could have been, it does bring up some important points that the Free Press ignored. Either way, I hope somebody is keeping their eye on these two.
